NHRA now doing a double
Go to the NHRA Lucas oil site to see the details of the first NHRA double points event. Hmmm! So IHRA is ahead of the curve.

Re: NHRA now doing a double
When IHRA first started doubles, everyone b*tched and complained, and do not support it. Now that NHRA follows, it is the best thing since sliced bread...give me a break! next will be $5k races @ NHRA divisionals, wait where did that start?

Re: NHRA now doing a double
It'll be interesting to see how it goes. We tend to have problems running one 3 day points race. I also can't wait to see what the run schedule will be.

Re: NHRA now doing a double
3 days for a race is why I don't do many Divisionals. I love the National open double points races. I can run 4 classes in 2 days with 1 car. I also HATE dialing in on Sunday morning with no time runs at Divisionals.

Re: NHRA now doing a double
Next thing they need to do is reduce their entry fees to IHRA levels (Fat Chance of That Happening)!
Or maybe restoring the old altitude correction factors for Stock & Super Stock, instead of making us run the factors for the Super Classes...Highly Unlikely! :( Or better yet, they can shock the Stock & Super Stock masses, by returning our indexes to their pre-enhanced levels (thus giving us our 3 tenths back)? I'll probably win lottery money before that happens...lol! |

Re: NHRA now doing a double
in review of the information posted on the double race. This will be a 4 day event which will turn into a 5 day event with the parking. IHRA can do a double in just 2 days. Of course the car counts are less. Personaly I hope division 2 does not try this idea. Our races are way too closley scheduled to support this type of program. I would like to see a minimum of 3 weeks between any races in the division.

Re: NHRA now doing a double
Parking does not take a day unless you choose so. 8 race weekends @ 3 days per event = 24 days. 4 race weekends @ 4 days per event = 16 days PLUS half of the travel. Guys who are actually out there racing consistently should love this format. Forget the whole NHRA vs IHRA nonsense who cares if someone likes one organization more than the other.

Re: NHRA now doing a double
The problem I see is - three weeks in a row with two days off work - means at least six days off work (8 to 5 job) in less than a month. Not to mention other race weekends later in the year.
No one has mentioned when these days/races are coupled with two national meets the weekends just prior. Not a bonus if you are not retired or have a job that is more important than racing Life is a balancing act - there really is life outside of racing So some choices must be made We will make them :-) peace |
Re: NHRA now doing a double
If NHRA car counts fall to IHRAs level they can pull off the doubles. But if they fall that far NHRA will go bye bye.
|
Re: NHRA now doing a double
If NHRA didn't start parking the day before, and everybody came in the gate the morning of the first race, a lot of them won't make the first qualifying round. Just too many cars.

Re: NHRA now doing a double
so will you still get grade points for both races?
