NHRA SST points question

Will someone explain how the division points in SST work.
How many can you attend?
How many races are actual claims?
How many must be in division?
How do the Sportsnationals work?
Thanks
CHip

Re: NHRA SST points question

If your talking about about grade points, you get one per div race.
If your talking about points towards div champ you get 30 for going through tech and loosing first round. If you break before first round you get 10 points. If you win first round, you pick up 10 more and on and on. Depending on car count you start picking up 1 extra for each win, 11 for third or forth round, 12 for fourth or fifth.............not sure how it works after that....lol

1. As many div races as you want
2. Each race (div) is 1 point towards grade points.
3. As many as you want, but only 5 are counted towards your div points. If you and someone else have the same amount of points the person with more home div points wins, But you can claim any div you want.
4. Just show up and race. S/St does get div points for a sport nationals..
( you can pr-enter and save $25. if ya want)

Hope this isn't to confusing ...........

I assume best 5 out of 8?
How many must be your home division?
Does Sportsnats count as a Home division claim?
Thanks

Correct, best 5 of 8 with minimum of 3 in your home division. If you claim the division where the SportsNats occurs it counts as a home division race.

Re: NHRA SST points question

If I were you I would run the Lucas Oil race at Gainesville, leave your stuff at my house or SGMP, and come back for the $5K shootout and Lucas Oil race in two weeks.

Your best 5 out of your first 8 are your points races. Up to 3 can be out of your claimed division, which you must claim at your first race of the year. 10 to tech in, 30 if you stage for first round, then there is a points matrix after that, but generally add 10 each round (+1 each round after second round), 10 extra to win the final.

The Cajun SportsNationals are a division 2 race for S/ST.

Your best pickups of out of division races would be VMP and Bowling Green.

Re: NHRA SST points question

You must claim at least 3 in or it is like you were never there. I learned this 2 years ago.

Best 5 out of first 8 races.

NHRA LUCAS OIL DRAG RACING SERIES DIVISIONAL

To accommodate those Top Alcohol Funny Car/Dragster and Top Alcohol Drag Racing Series racers who elect to concentrate activity closer to their home, separate Divisional programs are conducted to honor the top points champions in each of NHRA's seven geographic Divisions. Standings for this series are based totally upon NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Divisional events (National events do not apply). At the time a driver enters a Divisional event for the first time of the season, it is required that said driver declare which of the seven NHRA Divisions is to be his home Division. That Division will become his home Division for the season. Contestants are not permitted to be listed in more than one Division in the same category. Drivers in all Top Alcohol Funny Car/Dragster and NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series categories may compete for home division NHRA Top Alcohol points at up to eight Divisional events and will be credited with the points earned at their best five finishes including up to two "out of division" races. It is allowable to earn points at outside events even after a driver's home divisional schedule is completed. To be eligible for official NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series points and subsequent post-season awards, it is mandatory that a contestant participate at a minimum of three races within their home Division.
