Giving credit to were it's due...Rich Schaefer
After taking a 2 year break and then attending these first 2 races of the season, I must say that LODRS races in Div 2 are enjoyable again.
I'm not pointing fingers (actually I am), but it struck me how the tech officials seemed much more relaxed and racer friendly. These are the same people that were there before, but under a previous DD. I also noticed that there did not seem to be a rush to get cars down the track too early in the day or too soon after being affected by weather conditions, with the implied thought that the officials were in a hurry because they had something better to do. I even had the experience of being teched by the new female tech person (sorry I dont know her name) and even in raising a disagreement with her over a safety item that I was pretty certain wasn't required for my car the way it is set up, the discussion was calm and pleasant, and I was pleasantly surprised by that. Thanks Rich for overseeing the 2 most enjoyable weekends I've had in a long time. Div 2 racing is fun again! Hey Dan Moore, you're #1. :D RIP Mark Graham & WB Hutto |

I won't be working tech at Gators officially...but may be around at least one day to help and observe since I am on the Safety Safari crew that event, and budget may not allow for me to work tech as well. I don't imagine I will be able to sit around for 3 days at Gainesville after SGMP without doing something constructive! |

Karen, you are doing a fine job. I have been around this for a long time and even done some tech work myself, you do a great job and have a super attitude. You are knowlegeable and firm yet not overbearing. You are a refreshing addition to the NHRA D-2 group. You. J.T., Harry, Jim and the crew worked like a finely tuned HEMI this past weekend! Looking forward to Valdosta. Jim

Agreed. Seems like splitting up tech to do all the signing stuff first made things go a little faster while the cars were being checked over. Granted I was there early Friday, but the revised schedules were usually up on Facebook and DRR to keep us up to date (and we appreciate it)!

Agree with Jim, Karen you are a great addition to the D2 team. You teched my car at Reynolds last fall and helped with questions at Gainesville...thanks to you and the whole D2 team.

Hi Karen. I was the one with the S/ST car that you questioned about having a window net. I was very impressed with how you handled my response and then calmly proceeded to verify what the right answer to the issue was. I must say that in simular situations before the end results have been me raising my voice, someone else raising their voice at me and my blood pressure going up. Thank you for the manner in which you handled and addressed the question. I'm looking forward to seeing you at SGMP and I'll take the time to properly introduce myself. Lastly, thank you for the job you are doing for us racers.
Jim, we all know you have been around racing since the days of square wheels. Where did you work tech at? Moses' Egyptian Raceway? What years? Around 3000 B.C.? :D Hey Dan Moore, you're #1. :D RIP Mark Graham & WB Hutto |

Back to Rich. How about the Frday 10K purse race and the Saturday Quik 16 TS and TD. Last time I saw that was Immokolee. Rich is doing a great job allowing track owners to bring in more money so they can make some. Keep it up brother.
