Mark Williams
Just got word that Mark Williams has pulled out of NHRA. Gary is taking the truck back to Co. and will no longer be in the pits for racer support. Word is Mark is fed up with NHRA. I don't know what this means for contingency this year.

Re: Mark Williams
I'm just speculating here, but it sounds like another example of the "upper echelon" of NHRA treating those that are the backbone of the sport like crap. NHRA probably needed more pit space for John Force and his traveling circus and monkey act.

Re: Mark Williams
I know nothing about this other than what was printed in the opening thread BUT Mark has been a racer, manufacturer, sponsor with NHRA as well as the other HRA's for many many years probably like 40+.. For him to do something like this if it is true I'm sure it was not a knee jerk reaction ,had to been done after considerable thought. I've used his products in the past,am using some of his stuff now and if I think it will serve me better than another manufacturers same product in the future I will do so. Time will only tell when the story is finally told publically we will all know. I will miss not seing them participate in NHRA racing !!! Comp

Re: Mark Williams
I bought a pair of axles and c-clip kits, left brg. cap back in 1977 from MW. Other stuff since then, of course. Sorry to hear he has found the need to pull out.

Re: Mark Williams
Mark Williams has great quality. Sorry to hear that this happened.
He always paid contingency money in a timely manner. |
Re: Mark Williams
I am sorry to see Mark Williams pull out of NHRA.
Does anyone know what it costs to be a major sponsor and have a spot on manufacturers row at a national event? I'm just talking ballpark figures here, not a detailed breakdown. |
Re: Mark Williams
We also have been using M/W components for years. His stuff is simply the best. It used to be you could get about anything you wanted for your race car at a national event, but not anymore. I do not know the particular reason for the separation from NHRA but we are all going to miss not having them trackside. May be we should call M/W and find out why.

Re: Mark Williams
I will continue to buy Mark's stuff any way.

Re: Mark Williams
HAAAAAAAAAAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Sorry I just thought you said NHRA was going to spend THEIR money to make up the purse. My bet is they already have an underwear co. or other person desparate enough to have given MORE than they lost. |
Re: Mark Williams
I dont see Valvoline on the contingency list anymore either!!!

Re: Mark Williams
They should change their name to SS Titanic Racing Assoc.

They didn't notify until the Monday before the Winters, big corps take a while to get shyt done these days, main reason I can't work for 'em anymore. That said, they are posting for 3-4 products this year but have rearranged the products and branding. Best bet is to go to the Midway trailer and see if the new program suites you, you'll still need to sign up and ya get product that ya need anyway for your money. I hope it works for most, they've been around for a while now paying contingency and could use the support. Thanks, |
