Re: Rear end gear oil
Has anyone seen an on track performance difference between gear oils? I've changed brands and amount of oil a few times and seen no change.

There are several good rear end oils out there and I'm thinking it's more about how well the oil protects and extends gear life etc. rather than performance value. They probably all are pretty equal there. Just an opinion. BTW I have used the Amsoil for years now also. Jim . |
Re: Rear end gear oil
based on the replies here, it should be clear that everyone has an opinion as to who's good or the best, no different than most everything about these cars and 99% of the time it's what they use.;)
Bottomline is they're all good and there is no difference other than price and choosing between conventional and synthetic. Also, if there's any performace to be had, it's going to come from quanity and viscosity. I know guys that have run synthetic engine oil in their rear ends too.;) |
Re: Rear end gear oil
if you happen to be using a posi, rather than an open or a spool, do NOT use the synthetic lube, of any brand. even if you use the posi additive.
