Yeah - yeah , I know - where have you been ? Well , gang - here's the thing , its finally here - the NHRA Division One opener in Richmond ,VA .But it comes with strings , we wanted another points meet and we wanted Richmond back in the NHRA fold so now its about the long hike here . Yes , I'm aware that to some of you this this kind of ride is no big deal but to us in D1 its quite a ride -- can you tell we're spoiled ? ?
Test n tune is going on as I type - I'll dig up some dirt and get back ........... |

Ouch -- Earlier today during the tent n tune a few broke - Jim Boudreau in his "Goldigger" 69 Camaro B/SA dropped a valve and headed home .Mark Markow with his sharp SS/ Truck broke a lash cap but was able to contain the damage and made the necessary repairs so he can continue onto eliminations .
Test n tune is finished for the day ....... For those of you needing fuel - Chubby's @ RT460 & I-85 has the best prices - and their cash or credit . |
Re: Live from Richmond , VA - NHRA Lucas Oil Series

Re: Live from Richmond , VA - NHRA Lucas Oil Series
thought I found a gift today, found diesel @ $ 4.21 in So. Cal.!
that means $14 dollar savings for 40 gallons with the comparable prices, most spend more than that on a lunch?? |
Re: Live from Richmond , VA - NHRA Lucas Oil Series
Good morning - Racers here were greeted this morning by some really chilly weather this morning as temps went to 40 degrees during the night .It is warming up - now a balmy 47 and later in the day its to climb to 77 .
Time trials and qualifing will be @ 8:30 - crisp and clean - we'll be starting off with Stock .......... |
Re: Live from Richmond , VA - NHRA Lucas Oil Series

Re: Live from Richmond , VA - NHRA Lucas Oil Series
Wow, I was kind of questioning with the R Crap coming in tomorrow evening if they would get the whole race in tomorrow but, with that car count I think they should be able to do it. I know S/G will prob be a very light field also as most of us are heading to Bucks Memorial tomorrow. Did they rule out the 3rd qualifying shot tomorrow yet?

Re: Live from Richmond , VA - NHRA Lucas Oil Series
Both Stock and S/S got their first shot at the track this morning - not as fast as it looked but the track was killer .J.Wayne Totaro let the pack this morning with a fine -.997 under .
Air readings at that time were - 66 degrees w/ 61 % humidity , barometer 29.75, .39 Vapor Pressure - adj . alt . -- almost 1200 feet . NOTE -- I've been told because of the bad weather rolling in tomorrow there is a strong likelyhood that there will not be any time trials in the morning -and we'l start eliminations at 9 am . New entries can still come in but will be put on the bottom of the ladder . |

Preparations are being made for tomorrows elims - the crack NHRA Division One Team is doing their best for maximum bite ...............
Looks like Adam Keir has the A/SA record as he was almost finished in teardown when I went by earlier .Also Guy DeJarnes was there in teardown with his S/S .....And yes, I know I killed the spelling of his name . |

TAFC: 10 TD: 22 TS: 20 Comp: 28 Stock: 46 Super STk: 40 Don't have a count for SC, SG and SST but I am guessing 40 to 50 for SG and 30-40 for SG and SST. Probably a total count of 325 or so. There may still be more tomorrow. With the exception of TAD and TAFC, newcomers will just be added to the bottom of the order. Jim |

Good morning -- Not nearly as chilly last night and this morning here in Dinwidde and todays high to be just over eighty with the rain coming late in the afternoon ( 4 to 5 pm ) .Fog is covering the trees at this moment but is expected to burn off by the 9 AM race start .
There are a few cars at the gate this morning and they'll be put on the bottom of their ladders so they may compete . Both Adam Keir and Guy DesJardiins set records yesterday - Adam in his sharp looking 70 Nova A/SA and Guy in his 67 Camaro SS/FA .Adam went 9.89 and Guy 9.63 -congrats guys .......... |
Re: Live from Richmond , VA - NHRA Lucas Oil Series
Good luck getting it in today, especially with all the Alky cars but know you D1 guys will get it done if anybody can!
Saw the Ken Keir built Nova at Charlotte last year, what a gorgeous piece of craftsmanship. Maybe you can get some pics for folks who haven't seen it? |

As usual I'm at the wrong computer - can't download the last of the Saturday pics I took - but I'll get them on in the AM for sure .The weekend could have not been any better ( well , maybe a little if I switched places with Mr.Pires ) - VMP was awesome all weekend - super bite , clean organized pits and friendly staff .That said I had some very nice food and spent plenty of quality time with close friends - what more could I ask for ? A shorter ride home today would be nice ............One last thing - stopped in Maryland on the way back ..............and came home with crabs ! ! !
