Stock Eliminator already at quota for E-town
With 5 weeks to go before the entry deadline; Stock is already at quota (64) for Englishtown. The alcohol classes are not running this year at E-town, so you would think that the quota would be higher. The Super Stock quota is 90 because they have class eliminations. It seems to me that the Stock quota should at least be 80. Hopefully the NHRA will raise it.

Re: Stock Eliminator already at quota for E-town
They're trying to break up with us but they're letting us down easy, wont be long now. I hope I make it back in time to enjoy a few more years. It's quite sad but I guess all good things come to an end.

Bill, I'm hoping they raise the quota too....
I only have 3 grade points. I live 30 minutes away.... so it's very close to home for a National Event. |

Re: Stock Eliminator already at quota for E-town
I used to race up there and that race always had 128 Stock Eliminator car field. I guess with all the big rigs that people have now, it uses up pit space and takes away entries. That used to be the best race to go to, even when it was 130 degrees in the pits.
Stock_B103, I pushed NHRA so much about the grade points and not allowing someone with less grade points to enter a race if there where openings, that they changed their policy about it. Their policy was school yard mentality until they changed it, now it is correct. If there is a withdrawl, they allow other racers to enter with less grade points at the given grade point window. They changed it after it was too late for me to enter the Gators. Casey Miles 248H "F" NHRA Stock! |

Can't take that many cars at Englishtown because of the banker hours the township puts on the track. Even though there is an airport 30 feet away that flies all day and night..

They do have all 3 Super classes this year. This has not been the norm.

Slow dilution I suppose, when I was there in '95, there were 121 stockers!

If it's a noise issue, they should mandate that all the racers use mufflers, either you are there to race or make noise. I'd prefer to race with mufflers rather then to not race at all. One of the major problems with Westhampton's closing was the noise rules put in place by the town.

Take a look at this article in Competition Plus about pit space issues at Houston.
Pretty obvious why the space problem continues to get worse every year. http://www.competitionplus.com/drag-...even-surprised |

Re: Stock Eliminator already at quota for E-town
Look at the sportsman pits....EVERYBODY think's they have to have the biggest rig rolling. I race out of a 24 Ft Pace pulled by a dually, which use to be a large overall rig for a sportsman, now it's one of the smallest. None of the tracks (even ones like Atlanta owned by NHRA and remember when Gainesville was one of largest facilities with good pit parking around? ) are going to invest in the infrastructure to support more pits; it just doesn't make economic sense for the 1-2 times a year it becomes an issue. I've been a long time supporter of NHRA and consider myself a glass half-full type of person but there are many indicators that NHRA's business model will move toward minimal sportsman participation at National events, and quota reduction of classses that are staff intensive, like Stock and Super Stock...
My 2 cents... |
Re: Stock Eliminator already at quota for E-town
From a spectators point of view, i love e-town was my first national event my dad took me to in the mid 80's. Up to three days attending now, but if they start cutting down stock/super stock i wont attend national events anymore. I always felt a little spoiled because of the quality of racers and the car counts in D1. NHRA will learn just like Nascar is learning that fans stop coming when they dont like what you do.

Re: Stock Eliminator already at quota for E-town
I did a bit more research.
Last year 59 Super Stockers made runs in addition to the 89 Stockers that did the same; Stock and Super Stock entries totaled 148, there were 35 alcohol cars running, and all 3 Super classes were running. This year the Stock quota is 64 and the Super Stock quota is 90, which totals 154 which is basically the same as last year. All 3 Super classes are running just like last year. But the big difference is that this year there won't be 35 alcohol cars taking up pit space. As I asked previously, where is the logic? |
