Weather for Indy
 

I was looking at the forcast for Indy this weekend and it's going to be cold.
In your opinion what temperature is it safe to go down the track or does it matter to you?

AT Indy ? Track needs to be 85 deg. Remember Stockers put some heat in for everyone else. It's gonna be cold and rainy this week, so plan for everything ! One more thing, Track prep is crucial for all of us to get down safe too !

I noticed last week in the Stocker forum a few were having issues. Hopefully that doesn't happen again this weekend.

Hopefully they are strongly considering postponing this race. 44 degrees for a high is not safe track conditions! It was in the 60s at st Louis and the track sucked. I can't imagine what Indy will be like at that temp.

Heck, the high Saturday @ Norwalk is 40* for their season opener.

I just hope that we get two passes on Friday. Normally at Indy they do not have a shoot out on Friday, due to the number of cars. And I have seen in the past where they will give you one pass and due to time restraints, you will not get your second pass on Friday, due to the fact they want to get the shoot out completed. So you better get your test runs in Thursday, and run on the number on your first pass on Friday, to get in the shootout. It is only a hundred bucks to test on Thursday.

I look at it this way, If we only loose one day at Indy we are doing great!!

This stocker will not be there to put heat in the track .... good luck ...

They will be using JP1 traction compound at all Div 3 Races this year and are going to try to get as much in as possible on Friday....Just in case Saturday is bad.....it will be chilly but it looks like we will get it in....(I hope)

C'mon BB...isn't your measurement of a good racing weekend a little different than the rest of us? You'd consider the weekend a success when you keep the motorhome in one piece!

I'm of the opinion that we invest a lot of money in this sport and expect to get some kind of enjoyment back. Rain is highly unpredictable...but temperature can be somewhat predictable. I'm not seeing a lot of potential for enjoyment this weekend. Obviously I will be there...but can't say I'm all that excited about it....

I raced at Indy last weekend, and the track is looking good and hooking great and top dragsters were testing and going down the track.

You're right...that was low. I felt bad for a few seconds after typing it....

On an better note, just checked the weather and it seems to be improving temp wise....so revise my outlook to seeing a slight potential for enjoyment.

We were there, and the track was good. Heck, Bruce Litton made a pass in his T/F with no tire smoke.

Local weather said in by 5 Friday night out early Saturday. Maybe up to 1/2" rain??? Of course they do not know for sure. but it will be cold.

Been here since Thursday and have zero regret on coming. The track was awesome thanks to the track and nhra workers. Today looks iffy but you can be sure we will have a "Blast" :)
