Class clarifications
 Noticed this weekend in Atlanta that there were 3 of the new Mustangs entered in 3 different classes which were SS/AAA, SSA/A, SS/AA.
Can anyone explain the differences in those 3 classes? Confused! |
Re: Class clarifications
It's called run what you want. It's a new class for all you Mustang guys-pick a blower, pick a head, pick a cam, pick a throttle body. I guess I'm feeling better so now I want squabble with everyone.

Re: Class clarifications
Pick a knee, Pick a hip, Pick a heart... Well not the last one Jeff 'cause yours is irreplacable. New is not always better...

Re: Class clarifications
The new hip has three positions, so I can't run stock anymore. Mustang people do this to me, and I think they do it on purpose. Even the old car advocates aren't like those people. Think about this, get some Honest Charley curb feelers, stick them outboard the grille on a new pony car, and it looks like a catfish. I heard Jesse Kershaw said that, but since I can't verify it, I won't say that.

"Looks like a Catfish"............now that is funny.....I think I agree.

Re: Class clarifications
It used to be the lowest HP/weight SS break was "A" for sticks and "AA" for automatics (second "A" denoting automatic). They added lower HP/weight break classes to accommodate the new, faster cars like the supercharged Mustangs. The did that by adding more "A"s. So for a stick, they added a class SS/AA. But that designation was already used for "A" break automatics, so they changed the old SS/AA to SSA/A (super stock A, automatic). So SS/AA is a stick at break "AA", SS/AAA is an automatic at break "AA" and SSA/A is an automatic at break "A". SS/A was left alone and is still a stick at break "A". Clear as mud, huh?

So did Skillman run a stick this weekend in Atlanta?

Re: Class clarifications
This is due to the addition of the Super Stock AA class which is the 5.5lbs weight break.
They changed what used to be A automotic to SSA/A. Then SS/AA is the AA class manual trans, SS/AAA is AA class auto trans. The SS/AA and SS/AAA have 9.40 indexes. SSA/A has a 9.70 index SS/A has a 9.65 index. http://www.nhra.com/competition/classindexs.aspx I noticed Bill already answered after I posted this. |
Re: Class clarifications
So did Drew Skillman put a stick in his car?
He ran in SS/AA. |
Re: Class clarifications
Reminds me of the car collectors that say they have "one of one" because they have a light green car with a blue interior and a tan vinyl top. Anything to be exclusive...

Re: Class clarifications
Guess no one knows the answer?!
Oh well! Regardless, congrats to Drew Skillman on the double, but if he did it with a stick, more wow factor. |
Re: Class clarifications
The Skillman car had an automatic.
