Setting the C/S National Record at Gateway open
Well I got my National Dragster today and anxcious to see the highlights from the National Open, and disheartining to say the least, not one mention of the C/S new record by myself or the O/S new record by Gary Sommers. Now I know it may not be the biggest deal from the weekend ,but 5 hours working your tale off in teardown and everything passing and being legal should account for something. I guess I just thought a name mention or something would be neat being its my first National record ever. Oh well just wanted to vent a little and wonder what it takes to get some recognition in the National Dragster. It was still a cool experience for me to say the least and I know your name goes in the records in the back,I just thought there would be a little on it in the highlights.

Interesting that there is not any editorial press for these accomplishments. D |
Re: Setting the C/S National Record at Gateway open
I believe that they used to report such things, don't know why they don't now.
DRM, the magazine for IHRA puts your name and picture in it. Congratulations on the record. Ron Ortiz U/SA customer satisfaction |
Re: Setting the C/S National Record at Gateway open
Tim congrats on the record that happen to me one time but was in the next paper.

Re: Setting the C/S National Record at Gateway open
Nice job Tim. Call Glendora to make sure you get your 8.5 x 11 certificate for your wall.

Re: Setting the C/S National Record at Gateway open
For some reason, NHRA has plenty of space for happy chat by pro racers, but ignores real accomplishments by sportsmen!

Re: Setting the C/S National Record at Gateway open
Congrats on the record Tim!

Re: Setting the C/S National Record at Gateway open
To some it means nothing, but to some it means alot, the hours of work before you even got to the race, to the tear down and all the checking to make sure you are legal sez something about your passion for the quest of getting that record. This is what class racing was all about in the day. As one of your pers I give you a hand shake and tell you great job, put it on your wall and look at it proudly. Tom

Re: Setting the C/S National Record at Gateway open
I feel your pain--Its the Sh-ts. My 1948 Hudson Hornet set a record and NHRA never said a word back in the 60s--Force has 4 cars in FC is that fair? Go DE Jr.:)

Re: Setting the C/S National Record at Gateway open
I wish more people would step up and make the effort to set records. NHRA doesn't make it very rewarding but rest assured the stocker community recognises your accomplishment. Nice job!

Re: Setting the C/S National Record at Gateway open
Congrats on your record...maybe you should stick a couple big Castrol decals on the car. :)

Re: Setting the C/S National Record at Gateway open
From one C / S guy to another... Congrats !!!!
What was your ET and speed ? |
Re: Setting the C/S National Record at Gateway open
Thanks guys I thought it was a really cool deal and something to be proud of. I just didn't understand why it wasn't mentioned in the dragster maybe they missed it. I didn't set the world on fire but it went 10.53 at 127.50.
I always thought setting a record would be awesome so now I can cross that off the bucket list and it was awesome!! Thanks again for the kind words. |
Re: Setting the C/S National Record at Gateway open
That's plenty fast, man !
You "thought it would be awesome", and "it was awesome"... THAT'S awesome ! |

Re: Setting the C/S National Record at Gateway open
Congrats on your record. That should be the goal of every class racer but for some reason we've drifted towards ET predicters. I prefer your way and I'm still waiting for a national record. Maybe next year.

Re: Setting the C/S National Record at Gateway open
Congrats! Nice run and a fine accomplishment. I hope to experience it myself one day.

Re: Setting the C/S National Record at Gateway open
There was an article at the beginning of the season where the guy (maybe the editor I do not remember) said there would be more coverage of the Sportsmen racers. I was hoping it was true. I would rather read about how guys like you broke records and how hard they worked to do it than read about how pro racer x spent his vacation.

Re: Setting the C/S National Record at Gateway open
Congratulations! Can you find that extra two-tenths in ET if somebody decides they want the C/S record?

Re: Setting the C/S National Record at Gateway open
Tim, Congratulations on the record! Anytime that you experience an accomplishment, such as setting an NHRA record, it is a BIG Deal!

Re: Setting the C/S National Record at Gateway open
Jeff, Tim,s combo is amazingly "stock", he has worked very hard to establish steady improvements and is learning what it takes to run well. There are many fast cars in C/S, we are just happy to have done well that weekend. Thanks Tony.

Re: Setting the C/S National Record at Gateway open
Tim, Division 3 did not forget you. Mention of your record was posted on the Div 3 website on 4/24/12.

Re: Setting the C/S National Record at Gateway open
don't cross that off your bucket list just yet cowboy. you set the record when it was at a minimum. thats why jeff lee said do you have two tenths more.

For one I'm not a cowboy and two thats not the cars fastest pass, and for now I don't care what the record was now its 10.53 at 127.50 so if you can run better than that IN YOUR CAR than do it records are set to be broken aren't they? |
Re: Setting the C/S National Record at Gateway open
First of all congrats it is definetly something to be proud of, usually on the front page of the event coverage there is a box there that says record breakers, it is sad that NHRA seems to forget about the sportsman racers. when i set my record there were faster guys in the country but none of them wanted to tear down?

You do not know his car apparently. Do you own a record? How about a Wally? I believe he has both. And I am sure he has "at least" 2 more tenths in it. Sometimes track conditions and air can slow a car down...ever taken your heap if you have one to Denver? Hi Tim!!! :D:D:D |
Re: Setting the C/S National Record at Gateway open
Your last name is Tosto not Force.
Change your last name to Force and you will get all types of ink. Congratulation on your new record. Your hard work paid off. Hammer |
Re: Setting the C/S National Record at Gateway open
Three things may be stopping some 'racers' from setting a record
1 car must pass tech to be allowed to race 2 car must pass teardown 3 car cannot be constructed of Legos Congratulations on setting a record ! I suspect you won't stop here.---Trevor |
Re: Setting the C/S National Record at Gateway open
Congratuations on your record. I think it is a big deal too!
When my car got the A/SA record, the only place it went in the National Dragster was in records list. And that was good enough. Running the run, then tearing down (we did it the other way due to the schedule) but still you need to take it apart, and put it back together in the barn, or in the pits. And that is work! Once again Congratulations. Now if we could just get cars torn down when they run 1.20 under to get horsepower to make sure that they are legal too. David The New Hemi Guy |

To Tim and Tony, Your MPH says you are making some power, That's something to be proud of . Congradulations. Joe Fasano
