Great engine builders.

Ken will probably delete this but I'm gonna post it anyway. I had a problem with a new motor from Parsons and Myers at the Indy points race. Nothing was damaged but I didn't race. I took the motor up last Wednesday and it was done on Monday. This was not a small thing engine had to be completely disassembled and cleaned , put back together and dynoed. I'm sure there are probably other people who would of done this but Bruce Parsons and Hot Rod Myers are the ones that did this for me. Thanks guys you all are the best.

Great when engine builders back up their work !! Kudos to P&M !!!

Lots of engine builders--Refine your question like do you want a white engine-passes tech in all divisions--a gray engine that passes maybe 4 out of 7 divisions--or a black engine that you only race where you know tear downs are gone? The black motors do fly

I don't think Greg's afraid of a tear down...

Kudos to Parson's and Myers, have heard nothing but great things about them!

WTF are you talking about? Are you even a racer. I try and give some people a compliment and you try to make it totally about something else. STFUp.

That is outstanding service. There are not many engine shops that step up like that for sure. Kudos P&M is right.

Greg , No need to refine your post ,, Lets give credit were credit is due !! What you posted , most racers already knew ,and there is alot more shops around that fall in the same catigory . Thats one of the reasons you keep going back right ?? Besides being able to go fast .

The BEST!! They do both of our engines. Always good and fast.

Al Parker, Newton Iowa. Him and Jr. are the best. They have done everything from SS, Mod, Comp, TAD dragster, All of Sammy Swindells motors. Can absolutely seal a block up better then anyone. We had a 292, chevy block, he machined and Jr. assembled the short block, we leaked it cold, it was zero, nada, all 8 cylinders. Almost 20 inches vac with a wet sump. Sounded like an air tank. And have never galded a wrist pin.

Bruce and Hot Rod have built 3 for us since 2006 including our 6.1 DP engine and I agree with Greg they are the BEST.

Re: Great engine builders.

I'll add my .02 on this. Parsons & Myers are a class act. I called Bruce Parson last year after my crate heads were stolen. Without Bruce Parsons help, I would never have gotten those heads replaced. My partner, Tod Lane picked the parts up, Bruce spent a ton of time talking with him, giving us many ideas on what to do with this car. When I get ready for a good shortblock, he's the only person I will talk to.

Larry Hill 05-10-2012 10:09 PM

Re: Great engine builders.

Plus Hot Rod is always fun to talk with. Good folks!

Re: Great engine builders.

We had a simiar experience with Parsons and Myers a couple years ago with our stocker. Spun a couple bearings in Belle Rose testing (The problem was brought on ourselves...stupid mistake... I will leave it at that..). Left Belle Rose, LA with the engine out of the car Sunday afternoon, unloaded it at Parsons shop at 7am Monday morning and by 6pm Monday night it was in the car, running and we were headed to Charlotte. Can't ask for any better service than that!

Patterson Racing , Allen & Todd Patterson always great service and can get them on the phone 24/7 . They get my vote they are the best I have worked with. They also have a support great staff and get all the parts you need

KRatcliff 05-11-2012 07:48 AM

Re: Great engine builders.

I have heard only good things about all that were mentioned. My experience is limited to Jeff & Bobby Warren. They can make a slow combination fast, but that is not the main reason why I use them.

Their honesty and integrity are their strongest attributes in my opinion. Well....patience may be right up there when I think about it a little more. I think I have worn Jeff slick with questions. I'll know when he reaches his breaking point when he changes his cell phone number.

Edited to add: Can someone teach him how to text? It might extend our relationship.

Parsons and Myers all the way for me....look forward to working with Bruce on my next combo. If he can get the parts he will deliver exactly what he says.

THere are many good engine builders, today and yesterday. I think the original purpose of this post was to Thank Parsons and Meyers for this good deed....

Thanks Randy for the Kind words! Dick, i am sure thats what Gregs intent was, but the Title is Great engine Builders, now i dont and havent ever considered myself great, however, in the past 40 years i have built one or two engines! All of these listed, are seriously good engine builders!

SStockDart 05-12-2012 12:18 AM

Re: Great engine builders.

Yep, lots of good engine builders today. What this post shows me is that we have a lot of racers dedicated to their particular engine builder. I think that is a good thing. For me it is Steve Wann for more reasons than I can list.

Does anyone have more stock & super stock engines at the track than Tilburg? Hettler is back doing cyl heads in Pa again.

Re: Great engine builders.

I can't let this opportunity pass without thanking and complimenting George Widuch for building me one of the quickest small block MoPar Stockers out there. He and Jerry Bennett make a great team. Oh and this "white" engine has been checked twice since I have owned it and has set four National Records and won two events. Also no great engine builders list would be complete without Brad VanLant! A great builder and nice guy to boot. Thank you Brad for your help.
Bub, is excellent and Woody, well he is not only a good friend but a legendary engine builder. Jim

Kuntz & Co.
Jim Kuntz is the best Ford S/SS engine builder out there.
No brag, just fact!

Also he is president of the GOM society. ;)

Maybe Ford Racing Performance Group with the Cobra Jets ;<P

But in all seriousness, all that are mentioned in this thred are great engine builders IMHO.
And kudos to P&M for giving Greg the treatment that they did, that is a huge part of the reason they are some of the best in the industry.

You cant argue with Greg, his cars fly and pass tech.....I am very happy with Tony Bischoff on my car

I agree, built the engine for the first "stocker" in the 9's. Gary's Camaro can set the G-H record anytime he wants. Also, Gary is a great guy.

Greg Luneack / Tri City Competition. No better machine work than Greg's, IMHO. Hone and finish, none better. Excellent ring pack too.

I have a Parsons & Myers in my Cutlass....I have done nothing to the engine & it was built in 2008! BTW it's as slow as I want it to be...;-)

This is who will be building my supercharged 5.0 for mine. Always had a great experience with him and his shop and he's not to far of a drive so I'm fortunate with that.
