My recreation of my fathers 1967 Super Stock

This project is a tribute to my Father Gene Takash. He was a fierce competitor in NHRA division 2 through the 60's.This was my favorite race car he had when I was growing up. I always wanted to do something for him. So I have recreated his 1967 SS/EA Dodge. This project has been a 3 year venture and is closing fast. Hope to do a burn out this season ! http://i425.photobucket.com/albums/p...er/ontruck.jpg

Are you building the car as a legal SS'er?

Nice shots of the '67 Coronet...what color was it originally, I can't tell if that is black or dark brown with a champagne color roof...and yes keep us updated on the cars progress.

Reminds me of another black 1967 Plymouth I saw at a Chrysler test session circa 1976 in Bradenton. I seem to remember it was called Jumping Jack or something like it. I think it was all black as best as I can remember after 35 years or so. Pretty car and the uniforms look very professional. I was thinking the roof should have been gold to go with the lettering.

Evidently not. Rulebook in S/S says when moving rear framerail in..."Bottom of framerail may not be higher than location of original floor."

Jim, thanks for that clarification...was wondering if that was one of the '67 WO Hemi Coronet models or was it a '67 Coronet R/T...

It's been a long 12 months, The painter has had the car for that long. He told me that it was only going to take 3 months. We been at his mercy.
Here are a few pictures to keep you up to date. We have been wiring and assembling the car at a steady pace after work in the evenings.
Starting to take shape. We are getting excited!

That is one beautiful Coronet!
Is that carpet in the back interior section? Felt? It's so smooth it almost looks like splatter paint. I like it.

Well as you all know this has been a long Project. We have installed the engine and all of the running gear into the Chassis. All is good and the engine sounds good. I had the guys at work do the lettering (Titan Motorsports). The did a great job! I had took Pop and the car to a couple of outting to show off his piece. He had a time talking old racing stories.
Testing will be soon.
The car is a natural SS/DA. after we weigh the car we will try to run in C,D or E
I have attached some curent pictures of where we are with the project.
Enjoy!

Thank you all

Awesome! Thanks for sharing. The fact that I am still racing a 1st generation Camaro with my 65 yrs young father, as he did in the 70s makes me be proud, as I am certain you are.
That is a top notch Mopar!

Merry Christmas!
