You used NOS and blew the scoop apart.

Re: Problem @ Orlando Speed World
Owwww! I feel your pain!
I thought the hoods were one-piece. Any ET improvements during testing before it happened as some consolation? |

Tom Gaynors DP did the same thing @ Pamona.

Re: Problem @ Orlando Speed World
WOW Mack! Did it just fly off at speed? I also thought the hoods were one piece. The scoop looks like it was glued on! Any other damage to the paint any where else? Jim

Check out the link Mack has in the first post. Shows the rest of the damage. So, based on percentages, will Chrysler issue a recall or at least a TSB??? |

Now we know why the 2011 are a stock aluminum hood.....too bad they didn't do the DP with a real hood with a metal hood scoop and gasp hood hinges! The wind risk when the hood is on the roof is stressful. Good luck Eric |

Thanks Eric.... Plan to get in touch with my painter on Tuesday and see what his schedule is... I also voiced my opinion on these hoods before mine even got on the track... So will get it fixed and hopefully right this time....... I would love to have a stock hood with the hinges and all..... But we play the hand we have.. |
Re: Problem @ Orlando Speed World

Re: Problem @ Orlando Speed World
...you would think the Chrysler engineers that designed the Drag Pak hood would not take the cheap way out when designing it...the old Challenger T/A hood was a one piece deal and the Shaker hood bubbles used on the old Challenger & Cudas were fiberglass units bolted together using threaded studs & nuts...or like the fake side scoops used on the other B-body Chargers, Superbees & Road Runners etc from back then..

Re: Problem @ Orlando Speed World
My 08 CJ did the same thing at Orlando (ford sent me a new upgraded one under warranty)

Re: Problem @ Orlando Speed World
Mack, come by my pit area, we got gum, thumb tacks, string, some paper clips, a clothes pin, and some Elmer's glue. We can have her fixed in no time.
Ron Ortiz U/SA I knew that stuff would come in handy. |
Re: Problem @ Orlando Speed World
I met a guy a few years ago that had a new Z06 'Vette. He took it to around 180 through Texas and the front header panel of the roof delaminated. He drove to Arizona with duct tape holding it all together!
