Live (for now) in norwalk, oh

Since no one has started a thread from Norwalk, I'll try to keep up. They started parking at 1pm, I was # 127. I'm pitted between Keith Lynch and Greg & Andrew Hill. Paul Dilcher is next to Keith. Beautiful day, a little windy but lots of sunshine. Tech was a breeze, no waiting. Hopefully someone can post pictures, I won't be able to this weekend! I'll try to keep up but we need Patsy here!!

Ask mr dilcher how he liked the potatoes he had at atco

Re: Live (for now) in norwalk, oh

Paul said the potatoes were great. Still several rigs coming in, I think they will stop at 10pm. The Skillmans are here, Don Fezell and his 8 second Mustang also. Ben & Jerry are pitted next to the Hills. Sorry I'm not able to post any pictures, I left everything at home. Hopefully someone will be able to share their pictures. Super Street is up first at 10am then stock. We get 3 runs all together and 1 more shot Saturday. BTW, I saw a very nice black 57 post car, SS/LA. Keith told me they were from OKlahoma.

Hey Dennis, you are doing a great job! Go out and win it again!! We will see you next weekend at Bowling Green. I haven't found the National Dragster trailer yet, but I will look again tomorrow.

Thanks Patsy,

Best of luck to you two as well! Great weather here, should be nice all weekend. I get to try the famous Norwalk ice cream for the first time, I've heard it's excellent! Verizon keeps kicking me off the internet, no signal here. I'll keep up as best I can!

Hey Dennis! I will help and try to get some pics up too. We got in last night about 12:30 am, stayed the night in Linder's Lot, and they were pulling rigs in right at 7 am. We are down at the end, facing the track on the Bud side. Tech was a breeze, very well organized - I figured it would be backed up. I am pretty sure they will have a full house this weekend.

Personally, it's been years since we have been to Norwalk (last time we were here it was still an IHRA track) and I am so excited to be here! This is the first track I ever went to, this will be the first time I have actually raced myself here, and it's the first track Alex and I will race together at as a married couple - it's a big weekend! And the Bader's couldn't have bought and paid for better weather!!

They called Super Street already, but we don't start going down track for another 15 min. or so.

Re: Live (for now) in norwalk, oh

Stock just finished. The track is as gorgeous and tight as I hoped it would be. Redman is running the starting line, so I should expect no less. I think Leo said there were 87 stockers here. As full as the pits are and as nice as the weather is, I would have thought there were more.

I took some pictures and will load them up after we get back from Superstock, which they just called.

Dennis, I have your National Dragsters!
Daryl, I haven't seen the programs yet!

Re: Live (for now) in norwalk, oh

Just finished second round of stock. Air was 1700 this morning, 3000 this run. We picked up a direct head wind now. Probably a steady 8-10 mph and gusting a bit up from there.

A few people picked up from this morning but not many. We have a second round of superstock, then we run Q-3 during the show tonight. Looking forward to that - but our dogs are NOT looking forward to the fireworks or jet cars! LOL.

I should have some time after Q2 of Superstock to put up some pictures. I didn't get any during our last run, just no energy right now, we had a very long day yesterday and late night. A nap and then some pictures as soon as Superstock is done.... :D

Re: Live (for now) in norwalk, oh

Patsy,

Thanks for picking up the copies. I'm having a heck of a time staying on the internet, not much of a signal. I've had a few problems today, shifter cable first round and then my starter went out tonight in the lanes for Q3. Keith and Paul both picked up, I think Bo ran a 8.95. Congrats on the class win! It sounds like it was "Showtime"!

LOL Jeff!

So, I have not had any luck with getting pictures to load well. I am going to go through and adjust the resolution so I can post them via CR instead of hosting them on our site.

And I am out first round. I decided to start my race with Mr. Dean .019 too early. Ran dead on with a .005, so we had the car dialed right. I just got too excited to get started I guess.

It's an absolutely gorgeous day here. Sunshine abound, a decent crowd in the stands, and the staff here is just top notch.

Superstock is to run in about three hours.

Re: Live (for now) in norwalk, oh

BTW, there were at least five singles in stock today. McFarland & Breeden were two of them, and I just don't remember the other ones right now. I was still so disgusted with myself I wasn't thinking straight.

Chris Holbrook won best wheelie, longest wheelie, and crowd favorite. I didn't see it but people said it was huge, 100+ feet. Bo butner won low et and most under index, and don fezell won fastest mph.

In super stock, angelo Decarlo won best wheelie, bill zaskowski won longest wheelie, rock haas won crowd favorite, James evaniuk won most under index in his gt/a car, and I think ray skillman won quickest et and fastest mph with his 8.37 @ 165+ run.

You guys should have seen this place last night, it was packed. People were everywhere, and not just looking at the alcohol cars, there were tons of people pouring over the stockers and super stockers, today too. Other track owners need to pay attention, they can make a points race a big event.

And the last batch...

They called Superstock round one up just a few minutes ago. And they cancelled Supercomp's first round this afternoon because all of the little clean ups ate all the time up for them. Said they will run round one after Super Street tomorrow. So I guess round two of Stock can sleep in a little later tomorrow. Enjoy!

Re: Live (for now) in norwalk, oh

Some other notes from the weekend - last night the ambulance had to take someone to the hospital that had knee injury, so we were without emergency crew for a bit. Action naturally had to stop. Within five minutes of that announcement the line for ice cream reached all the way to the fence along the track, and wound down it a little bit. We didn't stay to watch if it got longer, but that was long enough!

Lots and lots of staff everywhere, to answer questions, keep things moving, keep people in line. The employees here REALLY show a lot of pride in their job and their facility. The Bader family work ethic and culture are very evident throughout.

And I hope every division 3 track operator gets a chance to come here and how just how profitable a points race can be. Put a little $ money in with the side shows, and try to SELL the sportsman as excitinig and the fans will come. Bill Jr. and Leo have done an amazing job calling the event. It feels like a national event, every run matters, every run is important.

We are having an awesome time here. Time to go up to run SS Round 1!

Great job Beth, thanks for posting all the pictures. Patsy will probably fire me for not completing my assignment, lol. You are correct about this track, they really know how to put on a race! Lots of fans, jet cars, gassers, ice cream, fireworks, free coffee and donuts, etc. I'll be back!

Awsome job on the pic's Beth. It is a great place to race. Everyone needs to experience Norwalk one time to appreciate it.

We are pitted on the west side and must go all the way around to make a pass. It is a little less than a mile drive. I have to plan the trip accordingly. About 8 gallons of water when the air temp is 84F.

Mike, lots of people have left on the Bud side - might be worth it to pack up and re-park. I am sure if you explain to them at the gate they will totally understand.....seriously, I would consider it. Sadly, our pit spot will be open in the morning as we went three up and three down. We lost almost every way you could lose. One red light, one break out and one couldn't run the number. Too fast off the line, too fast on the dial, too fast at the top end. Ugh.

BUT, we STILL have had a GREAT time!!! :D
