Re: Military out of Motorsports in 2013
I agree with them. Do you think giving Don Schumacher 50 million dollars of the taxpayers money to sponser a Top Fuel car has helped our country?

That has got to be one of the dumbest comments I have ever seen posted on here! |
Re: Military out of Motorsports in 2013
I have commented on this before. With a son as a full time serviceman, I asked him about the sponsorships of race team and fishing teams.
He said the military is after a better grade of serviceman/woman and the feeling was anyone who attended the racing or fishing events had an interest in competition and more then likely had more intiative and intelligence then the average recruit smoking dope on a street corner in down town punkville. I hate to see the sponsorships go. The long term result will be seen in the quality of recruits and eventually servicemen/women that come into and serve in the military. I don't forsee that quality to go up! #5457 Curt Rees |

Re: Military out of Motorsports in 2013
Yeah, its really stupid all the military people that got to attend a race and learn something constructive like racing. Or getting a free day outwith there families to enjoy things many never would have existed. I bet Don and crew have done many nice things we neverwill ever know, which is fine by me, not my business.
So this will affect all motorsports and all branches of military gov't. Yeah, it is nice to know the money was spent on entertainment as opposed to in the middle east or some other death trap. Anothe rsad day in america for many. Don't forget, there will be jobs lost in all reality, but you got no worries, right? Mr.Fahey, I agree with you 100 percent. Chris O'Keefe |
Re: Military out of Motorsports in 2013
The statement of "not used to kill people is stupid" we don't like that the armed forces is out of motorsports.
This is just a small taste of what is to come, in a second term Obama run Military. Or him cutting the military . |
Re: Military out of Motorsports in 2013
Why don't they cut the use of Air Force One for these non essential trips it is always going on. How about they use our health care system and retirement systems.

Re: Military out of Motorsports in 2013
emotions run us all quite often, but we need to stick together. I hope they leaveit be.
I remember Larry Nance at NYIRP in his Military sposored, spoke well to many of us there. Military presense as it has been is always a good feeling at the races. |

I work with Wounded Warrior Project and Counsil Soldiers on Career Directions (Been doing that since 1978) Currently participate in Cross-fit and Kettle Bell exercise programs with them. I wear the T-Shirt. I have taken Soldiers to the Hospital, Jail in and out, had a gun put to my head more than once. Been beaten, have beaten back, held down shaking crazy freaked out soldiers with 6 other friends. I saw one of my friends blow his head off with a 45 in a locker room. (We were talking and he goes watch !!). Have been in Combat and Sport Martial Arts since 1970. I currently training in MMA, have worked with Seals, Rangers, Swat, DEA, Police and other members involved in soft and hardcore Physical Security. Did some full contact kick boxing before it was popular in the 70's. I am no great shakes in Martial Arts but one thing is clear Soldiers PTSD is a huge issue... PTSD comes in many forms, such as having an horrible abusive parent. Solutions is rather simple..Someone to listen to WHEN they can talk.!! There many other unspoken issues of Soldiers coming back with several back and physical structural issues. Soldiers that carry 85lb supplies with them in Combat are having ruptured and collapsed disk issues knees neck injuries and not able to hear. How many of you are happy and spirited with an injured spine? The ignorance about what went on in Iraq and Afghanistan and that aftermath of how we were taking care of the wounded have been hidden from the public delibrately !!! Oh some has come out but very little. As time goes by more an more will come out from the real media. Put it this way.. If you knew that some Leader was going lie about Starting Two wars, Finance it and then give tax breaks to the Rich. Then Recruit other Parents Kids to fight their war that the Neocon's never showed up to fight, would you Vote for that position? Let me put it another way.. IF the Leadership still lying to you about Starting Two Wars, Told you up you had to Pay for the Wars up front with 50% increase in Taxes THEN told you had to go fight the war...would you Vote for that Position? There is one thing to fight a War when we are in the RIGHT. Then you fight like Hell...! But you will NEVER win a war when we are in the WRONG !! Then we are humiliated into Hell. The US Military supporting Sports is a great idea. Part of the greater public and community outreach support to Defend our Country. The Leadership that betrayed and screwed our country into this Depression is another!! Dan Fahey |
Re: Military out of Motorsports in 2013
This is a bipartisan amendment that has a Southern Republican for a co-sponsor. The Pres has no input on this decision.

Re: Military out of Motorsports in 2013
oops, I guess the rules never said anything about posting political topics elsewhere on the forums...anyway could never figure out why $100 million or more was given to Nascar when all of those other government handouts were made by Bush & Obama...always thought it was going towards the business, better events, more tracks, etc...remember all of that TARP money they handed out everyone.

Re: Military out of Motorsports in 2013
Personally, I would rather see the money go towards helping these kids coming home with injuries. Recruiting can take care of itself like it has for the past 200+ years.

Re: Military out of Motorsports in 2013
The amendment states: "None of the funds made available in this act may be used to sponsor professional or semi-professional motorsports, fishing, wrestling or other sports."
I'm no legal-eagle but I read it that no funds from this particular act can go to sports. It doesn't talk about any other military funding. |
