Chevy Racing lack of work

Just saw a email from a Cliff Cohen at Chevy racing Sounds as though Chevy is way behind on COPO's guys in the 50's range serial will not get theirs till end of November/ December of 2012 sounds like it could be you you could get a 2012 in 2013. Big question is would there be End of model sale?

Ralph -Very interesting -- I've not seen an e-mail detailing those facts .Perhaps you could share a copy of it with our members as I'm sure many are waiting the arrival of these cars ..........

They look great so far in the pictures posted. If Mike is supplying the 4 link and the rest, I am sure it will be well put together.

I wonder how many will actually hit the strip. I know of a few people getting them, who is on the list that will actually run them??

Mine is number 6. It is scheduled for July/August pick-up. It will be raced!

Thanks for posting the links. I am stuck in Mexico for two weeks, so this has given me something to dream about.

Rick Hendrick builds his own 327 for his COPO

Re: Chevy Racing lack of work

Bet he didn't have to pay the extra $5,600.00 to build his own engine, like the real racers of these cars will have to do!

Re: Chevy Racing lack of work

i knew that GM offers this personal build for ZR1, ZO6 and select crate engines. I did not know they offered this option to COPO owners.

BlueOval Ralph 06-27-2012 07:49 AM

Re: Chevy Racing lack of work

It was a option and if you elected to buy all three engines there was a option to build all three at $5,600 each

Re: Chevy Racing lack of work

Why would a person want to pay $5600. to assemble their engine? Sometimes I hear scary things.

Re: Chevy Racing lack of work

When get your car better take engine out and make sure it meets Submited NHRA specs and that it is clean assembled correctly!

Ralph - Do you have any reason to believe that Chevrolet is not cleaning and assembling these engines properly and to spec ? Please share .............

Re: Chevy Racing lack of work

Wow Ralph, easy on the job bank american worker!! if you've seen the show GEARS the host Stacy David builds his own LS-7 and it's fool proof. The guys at the factory don't just let you loose in the plant to assemble what ever you want, you are taken from one station to another by a trained american engine builder who does this every day and the engine is also put on the dyno...Don't bash the few american workers who still have a job. Re: Chevy Racing lack of work

It is not fool proof. When you saw the show which I also watched when did you see a measuring of parts done? They don't measure any clearances, not would go to the tear down barn with this I sure won't. When a Z 06 fails it usually includes a buy back of the vehicle cause it is no longer a numbers matching vehicle.
Also the parts are not 100% inspected how will you be sure they are made to print and the stack up clearances are correct?

Would you take a engine built by a jobs bank uaw worker to a NHRA tear down? I don't think so.

Pretty harsh words don't you think ? Many Ford guys are doing it - why not Chevrolet .......And by the way - I set my first record in 1973 with a factory Pontiac shortblock - thet got it right then so why not now ?

BlueOval Ralph 06-27-2012 02:57 PM

Re: Chevy Racing lack of work

We will see at the first NHRA tear down if one stes the record
