A Question For The Lounge Lizzards

This has bothered me for a while and I just wanted to ask you guys something. If you spent more than six years in college and hundreds of thousands of dollars to get a law degree and license, would you just give it up for no reason? If you would, what would make you do this? Jim

Frank, that's the first thing that popped into my head but since Jim posted it at 3:19 AM I was afraid he was really bothered by it and it might be one of his kids...would hate to imply one of his kids was in the same category as a pol.....well, that.

Re: A Question For The Lounge Lizzards

Jim,
if you paid for this education for a son/daughter, my answer would be they hate you....

now that said, i forward this question to my wife, who, at the age of 30 something decided she did not want to be a history teacher after all. and told her only surviving parental figure (older cousin) she wanted to go to law school. the reply was: oh, you want to be a paralegal. i think proving to her she could be more than a paralegal was part of her drive. she worked two jobs and put herself through law school, she is now a star attorney at a big firm here in wilmington....she has told me several times that attorneys are mostly jerks, throwing around big words that nobody really uses, showing off homes, cars etc...
anyway, here is her reply to your question. (yes i deal with this everyday, lol).............................................. .................................................. ...............................

The question makes no sense. If you give it up for “no reason” then you can’t answer the second question of “what would make you do this” So, if you answer the first question with a yes, then the answer to the second question is “no reason.” If you answer the first question with a no, then the second question doesn’t apply because it starts with the qualifying phrase of “If you would”

I would never give up any job for “no reason” much less a job that I (and now we) have invested so much in. Some people may think the sacrifices are not worth it and there are days I would agree, however, without knowing what else I would do, the answer is no.

Nope, not one of my kids. You guys are thinking too hard! This has been in the news, well you have probably gotten an email about it anyway. Frank is closest. Thinking caps on now. Jim

Jim, used to watch the news and got so frustrated I quit. Lawyers, Politicians and the news media, you can put them in a basket and still have a pile of s$$$. They lie, cheat, steal and all for pride/money...Sorry if I bumped someone, but you will just have to live with it cause I an't going to change my mind....

Maybe he had an attack of conscience and didn't want to be associated with the most disreputable of professions, according to polls
Maybe he figured his wife could support him... But ,what if she gave up hers too?
I'd be real suspicious of his pair...They sound like shady characters!

If the person were "radical" enough in their thinking to attract the attention of a very rich crowd they might be convinced to be the "front person" for gifts like free homes etc and used to control groups of uneducated fans. You know like a celebrity creates screaming kids who follow their every song or dance move.

Re: A Question For The Lounge Lizzards

OK, there is a certain famous guy who was bankrolled by an undisclosed entity through only the best law schools. Spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to do so and become an attorney at a rather prestigious law firm. Only to give up his law license a short time later for no declared reason. Why do you think he would do that? Oh did I mention his wife did the very same thing? Hummmm? Jim

When you say M.O., do you mean "his wife"? Jim

Hummm. Interesting! So why do you think these "Manchurian" people would give up their hard earned law licenses? Jim
