It is the trifecta for low attendance.

1. It's Denver
2. Weak economy
3. It's Denver

You forgot one Kyle

4. It's too freakin' hot and you're only closer to the sun on the mountain

Does that make it a superfecta or a quatrofecta? :p

By the way. Tracy is out of minutes so you can text him and he won't text back. This one sided conversation is kind of nice. I am having the time of my life at the moment.

What has happened to this race? My first was in 1992 and it had a great turn out! Even the early 2000's was pretty good. Seems like since they made it a 3 day race, it has turned to crap. Sucks living 30 miles away and not wanting to go watch since car counts suck. And its HOT!!!

Lets see, 1.5 miles from the starting from ground up asfalt pit area on a narrow 1.5 lane road past all the pros and spectators to get to staging, you can coast down the hill once you get there. Did someone say hot 10000 plus air. Plus a track that realy don,t want you there then won,t let you leave the track till they say you can. Not a fun race like it was years ago, even the locals won,t race there. The pros barly have a full field Tom

Too far & too much altitude

Long way to go slow. Lack of class money doesn't help the track...

I would bet we have more cars at our local S/SS combo this weekend.

Re: Denver??

Also the new altitude factors. A lower class car that`s .30 under at sea level won`t run the index this weekend. Forcast highs in the upper 90`s all three days and "breezy" on Saturday.

With everything that has been mentioned, it begs the question has the AHFS and the other factors making the 2 denver races a none event?

Re: Denver??

I used to look forward to attend this race. We would race the week before at Douglas LODRS, then go to Denver. When they started to put us in the gravel past the end of the track, that was enough. I would not go if it was free! Dyno

Re: Denver??

I live 75 miles from the track and wonder if my driveway is closer to the staging lanes then my regular pit spot at the nationals. Mr. Wright I cann't agree with you that it is a hole as the track surface in all concrete with a cooling system on the starting line. The pits are mainly paved asphalt, but as we sportsman racers know that is given to the pros/circus. Now as to why the low car counts I'd go:
1 Pitting for sportsman racers is mostly in the north forty which doesn't work well with crew members and family. Shoot friends don't even want to walk out to shoot the bull.
2 One of the hardest tracks to dial outside of Sonoma due to swirling winds.
3 Don't see much representation from the west as car counts started to fall off when they changed the western swing. If I was in Cali I wouldn't tow here if I could just tow to Sonoma and run back to back races (div and nat).
4 And earlier did someone say the economy. 3.50 for diesal so by the time you make the tow, with no help from class if you had a fast car, its not any fun unless the track makes you feel good about coming and I've seen plenty of posts on how most sportsman feel about NHRA's treatment of you at a national event.
Now let's sit back, watch, and cheer for those who did make the tow out here to have fun in this sport that we love.

Re: Denver??

I was talking about the lay out and whole situation. The cooled starting pad is no big deal for us. The power loss from the elevation makes traction pretty much a non-issue.
I feel the same way about Joliet. 40 miles to the staging lanes, no speakers, etc, once there was enough for me.
