Live from Sonoma LODRS
Well, I'll start this. Maybe Toby, or someone equally as qualified, will pick it up from here. I have no camera or video. I stay pretty close to my RV so not sure how much gossip I'll pick up! lol
My hubby, Don Little & I arrived here around 11. As we're not attending the national event next weekend (I'm so over those!) we are parked in the pro pits. Asphalt, walking distance to starting line, one row over from the driver's lounge (full shower in the morning, not the RV, conserve the water shower!) Tech was quick and we've had a relaxing day. After dinner Don & I went on our traditional walk of the road coarse here. It's a 1.5 mile walk, with 2 climbs. One, in particular, I call Mt. Sonoma. I swear it feels like I'm having a heart attack walking up that thing! We burned off our dinner calories, for sure. As the pits are literally all along the road coarse it's hard to get a perspective of how many cars are here. Both Don & I think there are less cars than last year. Activities start up tomorrow at 8:30. Stock is out 2nd, SS 4th. The weather looks to be nice all weekend, highs in the 80's. As is typical here, the wind comes up in the afternoon. It's always always interesting dialing in for afternoon runs. |

Re: Live from Sonoma LODRS
Stock has their two runs in for the day, SS will be up soon. We are supposed to have one run only tomorrow, so people arriving late today will have to have their act together in the morning.
Weather is gorgeous. A slight tail wind was coming up as we were making our 2nd runs. We were down for track cleanup midway through the first session. Don Wann had valve cover gasket issues but he was able to run the 2nd session. Only one hemi car here. Dave Raybourne had to lift. I failed fuel check after the first run. Seems one of my cans of C-11, which I keep stored at Dad's shop, had been contaminated with some C-25. Hmmmm... So we drained everything, put in new fuel and all is right again. I politely told Dad not to touch my stuff! lol We've nothing left to do the rest of the day, so we're just hanging out. Don & I will walk Mt. Sonoma again tonight. If that was in my backyard I'd be in fantastic shape in no time! My kids, their spouses & my parents will be here tomorrow. Dad hasn't been to the track in a few years. My 22-month old granddaughter likes all things that go vroom vroom so we'll see how she likes her Nana's race car! |

Thanks for starting this, I am enjoying the female reporting. And love your remark "I politely told Dad not to touch my stuff! lol" Thanks again for posting.

Re: Live from Sonoma LODRS
Yes, thanks for the reports, Julie. Patsy Hill does some pretty good female reporting also.
Here's a video of the second round of super stock qualifying from a male videographer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ncFqcKj5doc |
Re: Live from Sonoma LODRS
Only 31 SS cars on the qual sheet. Jon Irving is having problems. If he gets thinks worked out, we'll have 32. Sure not the way things used to be.
Super Stock is 2nd out tomorrow. Should cause some movement on the ladder. Should be done by 10am, I think it will be time to visit some local businesses tomorrow! |

Re: Live from Sonoma LODRS
A little confusion this morning. Per the schedule given to us with our credentials SS was scheduled to be 2nd out this morning. Stock was called so we thought it was a mistake. Not so and racers were scrambling. A lot of racers parked up the hill don't get good radio reception so didn't even hear the call. I understand there were 2 racers that didn't hear so they will get a clean up run. So final qualifying sheet won't be out for a while.
Temps have been pretty constant this weekend. It's already breezier today than it was yesterday. Except for the clean up runs Stock & SS are done for the day. Track seems to be working well. I watched the final SS session and didn't notice any problems. My granddaughter is here today. I took her with me as I did my warm up lap. She didn't want out when I was done. I have a college fund started for her. I'm beginning to think I should start a race car fund, too! A few people are broke and already gone. Chuck Echmalion, Edgecomb are both broke. The two Humrichouse cars are gone, I'm not sure why. |

Re: Live from Sonoma LODRS
Good morning! It's race day in Sonoma. We have a 9am start, Stock out 2nd, SS out 4th. Second rounds won't be until after noon.
It was in the low 90's here yesterday, felt warmer in our asphalt pit! Temps are slightly cooler this morning than they were yesterday. I see Patsy's pics from Columbus, all the green grass. Everything is brown out here except for the irrigated vineyards. We did Mt. Sonoma again last night, so we kept to our goal of doing it every night. My calves are soooooo sore! |
Re: Live from Sonoma LODRS
Well I sucked, Don wasn't much better. ;-)
A few breakouts this morning, the conditions were definitely better. On our way home, 100 degree temps & my swimming pool await us. |

Toby another great job as usual, thanks. It would be great if you would send a copy of the third round of stock to the starting line crew.

Thanks again Toby for taking the time to record all the great video.
THANKS! |
Re: Live from Sonoma LODRS
The right lane was junk most of the time, Confused on why the track personnel can,t make both lanes equal? We dialed for the spin by lowering the leave chip, dialed the car for the spin and that was still not enough had great 60fts left lane i knew i was toast the moment i lost lane choice track won don lost lol
