COPO testing begins
3 runs today had to lift at 1100 feet hit the chip working on everything great car spinning and hitting the chip still ran much better than expected and a fine race car I am more than happy all the way around. And the support from Gm has been top shelf 😃

Re: COPO testing begins
Nice run! That thing left so soft too. I can't imagine what it will run when it gets dialed in!

Re: COPO testing begins
1 step at a time, 1st pass destroyed the tires, only made 3 passes.

Re: COPO testing begins
First round blew the tires off next softened it uo to get down the track still spun and had to lift at 1100 ft

Re: COPO testing begins
What does it weigh? To run an 8.88 it must be making well over 800hp.

Re: COPO testing begins
Hey Paul, very nice car, Congratulations. What class are you going to run?

Re: COPO testing begins
Looks like a big headwind too. I would be very happy for first time out for sure!

Re: COPO testing begins
I got out of work late on Friday and heard it was up at Dunn Tire. I got to the track at about 8:30 but I saw the tractor and trailer sitting on the pit entrance lane ready to head home. I talked to a motorcycle guy and he said that they got 2 time trials in and then the race was called. Oh well, I will see it soon enough.

Re: COPO testing begins
Lots of work to do more testing this week. Yet to make a complete pass but the Gm boys made a hell of a car it's like driving a Mercedes

Re: COPO testing begins
If Paul Cambria saw an 8:80 on his second ever pass after only a couple days of playing with one of the first built COPOs, I think some new records are soon to be set. The big-blower S/S cars are looking very promising based on his few test runs. I can't wait to see what one of the early 427 stockers will do with some minor tuning and the right driver. Again, this is gonna get very interesting.

Re: COPO testing begins
I guess nobody picked up on my earlier post.
142 MPH indicates an ET that is .500+/- SLOWER than the actual ET of 8.88. When he takes the sock out of the throttle body, you'll see a much higher MPH which will tell you the true ET potential. I'm guessing 8.65 @ 153-154 MPH once the sock is removed. And that's with only a tune. I don't really like the look of the street Camaro. It has grown on me but I'd still go buy a '13 Boss if I won the lottery tomorrow. But I have to admit, with some tires under the car and that cowl hood, those COPO cars do look pretty good. And I'd much rather change the cam or R&R heads on the COPO than the 4v Cobra Jets! |
Re: COPO testing begins
wow he already posted that he hit the limiter at 1100ft which is why the mph is down :D
