Feeler out for NY Natl. Speedway Reunion
 

I spoke to Walter Frey about having a NY Natl/Hampton/Islip/Connecting Highway Reunion for sometime (prefably Spring or Fall) of 2013.Just kicked around the idea about having it at Englishtown on the 1/8 mile track.That way the present management isn't bothered by a bunch of old crabby men cutting into their regular program.It's getting late,there aren't that many of us around.
How about some feed back.Walter said he would see if he could get Ed Eaton to grace our company.That would be something.

Why not have the reunion on Sunrise Hgwy by Deerfield Ave, just tell the cops it's OK! I'm sure that they still race there.

Actually, you don't! I have already been given permission to put an event together!
Next thing to do is start a Face Book page and a web site! Ed, you are the first to be deputized but we'll need some more folks to help. I have a ton of ideas but please don't be afraid to put your 2 cents in. Let's get this thing rolling!

P.S. My first thought is to make this a Long Island Hot Rod Reunion. Islip and Westhampton both have great history and memories!

There have been a couple. I did one at West Hampton a little more than 10 years ago.
We literally had to close the gates at 2:30 in the afternoon because there was no more pit space available!

This sounds like a great idea! If I can be of any help let me know. I spent many a wild-weekend at NYNS, from it's opening until I moved south in the early 1970's. I just wish I still had my race cars from back then!

Count me in. When I spoke to Ed at Atco a few weeks ago I thought it was a great idea. I also spoke to a number of former NY National racers that like me are still racing and would love to attend. This event WILL happen! R.P.management has given me the green light.
I have already started to put together a team of volunteers to work with me. I am open to all suggestions and any help that is offered. It will most likely be held on a Saturday afternoon and evening at the 1/8th mile track ( for a variety of good reasons). One of those reasons is that we can pick most any date that we like. We just have to find one that does not conflict with other events such as Divisionals, local National events, etc.

It would be good if you have some type of flyer ready for the divisional event at E-Town next month.

Hi Walter, to make this event really successful you should set up a dunk tank for Ed Eaton, I'm sure Kenny B would be first in line, I'll be second, Paul.

Someone keep my e-mail addy, and let me know the details. I would like to come, if possible. However I now live in Florida, so I don't know. I still have a track record holder certificate from NY National. Class "QO" dated 5-2-71 signed by Rick Stewart. Man 41 years ago, I'm getting old. I don't come here very often, as I just bracket race, now.

Got my need for speed as a crew member at National Speedway & then started racing at West Hampton. Got my first traffic summons at Connecting Hiways, loud exhaust. Would love to see this happen.
