A/MP Record Holder.
 

It might have been ask before but does anyone know who was the last A/MP Record Holder was before NHRA got rid of that class?

Bob Lambeck, i beleive ran that class in the late 70`s. i dont remember when they disolved the modified class. if Bob could chime in, i dont know of too many people that would have known about that class back then.

Modified Eliminator died at the end of '81. So whomever held the record, it would have been posted in the last digger before the World Finals, October '81. If anybody has a copy, it would be in that issue.

Come to think of it, I might have an issue. Let me check!

I looked to no avail. Way too much stuff to go through...

The record if I am not mistaken would have been in the 8.90 to 9.10 ET range. MPH around 150.

Trying to think of some of the players??? Corvette or Hemi Cuda??

Terry Sherrill comes to mind. Many time record holder in his Corvette and later ran a newer style car that I can't recall. Haven't heard anything about him in quite awhile.

Les Lucier from Brockton, MA set A/MP record many times with his '69 Camaro. I believe Dennis Ferrara from Motion also held A/MP record at one time. I don't recall who had it when Modified was terminated.

Terry Sherrills 57 Corvette ran in SS/AM, I`m not sure how similar that would be to the old A/MP class.

Dave had the 1st A/MP car in the 8s back in the day. I remember seeing the picture in National Dragster. May have been after Modified was absorbed into Comp.

I have a magazine article - somewhere - on Terry's Corvette and it was in A/MP at that time. This was after Modified was axed and the Modified Production classes absorbed into Comp.
