5.13 8.8 Ford gear
Where are you guys getting a 5.13 gear for a 8.8 Ford at? What brand?

Re: 5.13 8.8 Ford gear
Strange street gear, don't waste money on the race gear. Bought axles, spool, cover and gears from Summit.

Re: 5.13 8.8 Ford gear
Thanks man! Did you do the c-clip eliminators?
|
Re: 5.13 8.8 Ford gear
No, I used the weld on 9" Torino big bearing ends and pressed the bearings onto the axles. Those c-clip elim kits looked a little too Mickey Mouse for my liking. But I know guys that use them in 12 bolt GM SS rides with a trans brake, so who knows...............

Re: 5.13 8.8 Ford gear
Alex, Does anyone make a ratio between a 5.13 and a 5.71?
|
Re: 5.13 8.8 Ford gear
I have used 5.13 gears for a Ford 8.8 from both Moser and Motive. I wish "Pro" gears were available for a 8.8, but I am not aware of any, I have broken 2 sets of the 5.13s in my stick car, the 4.88s I currently have in the car seem to hold up much better than the 5.13s do. With an automatic, the 5.13s should last a good long time. I am not aware of any ratio between the 5.13s and 5.71s Mark.
As for the C Clip eliminators, I have had the same set of Moser 31 spline axles and C Clip eliminators on my 85 Mustang for 10 years now, no leaks or any other problems. |
Re: 5.13 8.8 Ford gear
I have moser c clip eliminators in my car too. Been in about 8 years. 33 spline gun drilled moser axles. I run Richmond Street gears as well.
I don't recall seeing anything lower than 5.13 for an 8.8 either. |
Re: 5.13 8.8 Ford gear
Thanks for all the fast replys! My car is a auto, is a 5.13 enough gear with 30x9 radials?

Re: 5.13 8.8 Ford gear
5.13 should be perfect with a 9x30 in a 5.0 H.O. Stocker.

Re: 5.13 8.8 Ford gear
I doubt you could run much lower gear than that in a 1/4 mi. Something like a 5.71 would be great for 1/8 mile though.
You building a stock or super stock, or just upgrading the rear you have in your Mustang now? |

I'm sorry Mark. I didn't read the post close enough. I thought Josh was asking.

Re: 5.13 8.8 Ford gear
Im trying to upgrade my ole' Mustang bracket car to run crate motor stock. It has a 4.56 in it with a 28x10 tire, I put a set of 30x9 radials on it and it needs more gear. I need something to drop my R/T's too, thought a 5.13 and radials would pick them up to. The car will probably just run a 1/4 mile two or three times a year max.
