SS Indy withdrawls permitted!

I sent a note to Josh Peterson about withdrawing from INDY, and he responded.
See my email and his response below.

Yes, if a competitor does not return next weekend we will consider it as if the competitor was never entered the event. Following the completion of next weekend’s event competitors who did not return will be issued a credit towards their account.

Thanks

Josh Peterson

Is there any withdrawl consideration for SS competitors?

I don't have a dog in this race but this is outstanding: I've always been impressed by how Josh and the entire staff work with racers. That said, I can't help but wonder how this would work for those who won class and chase those points...would that mean they would not get the points if they don't return?

No points are ever awarded for class win in Stock or SS. Points are only awarded for the eliminator.

Indy does not count towards the class points! It pays class contingency money! No points!

Having a slow car,I really don't follow all of the rules, but thanks for pointing that out.

I NEVER would have guessed that the most prestigious race would not count for points. If anything,I would have thought it would have been double points.

Surprises me too, went back and looked at how points are earned just to make sure I didn't miss anything since I may jump into more of the class competition next year (see link below)....in any case hats off to NHRA for giving the SS racers a chance to pursue divisional points this weekend. It will be interesting to see how many show up at Indy, suspect it will still be close to a full field...

Does this include all Superstock entries or just the top 128? I would think it is for all. Thanks, Dyno. #161 qualifier but we still had fun.

Dyno, as of Sunday morning & again on Monday, ALL alternates were in. We double checked with Red at pit control, and again in staging before they sent us back. He assured us that due to breakage and racers leaving, that all were in.

Now....can they return, and bump alternates back out? Have no idea. Ron & I left pits about 9AM before they called race, and headed for Earlville. We are not going back to Indy.

My guess, with weather report and two divisionals, they won't have 128. Just guessing

If you pull out what happens to your AHFS runs? Do they go away? If you "were not there" and you get your entry back, how can they count them?

Re: SS Indy withdrawls permitted!

Rain out/re-scheduled type race when no elimination rounds have been run are "all run, random pairing". If 150 cars come back, they all run and it's an eight round race. That said, I don't think there will be 100 total. At this point, I'm not planning on going, especially with being able to re-coup the entry money.

New this year Indy counts for class points. Read the note from NHRA back on Jan 26 of this year. All class races count for points. I also asked Charlie Nelson of NHRA and he confirmed this.

Ok, here's what you referenced....

So can someone who collected points in class not return next weekend and still keep those points, after all if it's like a withdrawal the driver was never there...

What, if any is the update or procedure to "withdraw" from Indy? I e-mailed Josh after this initial post and have not heard anything back

Does anyone know about this?

Randy
If you did not go back NHRA automatically credited your NHRA account with the entry fee. It should be there now.

Does this mean you could win your class, keep your Wally, and still be credited to enter another race if you did not return to Indy?

Hope they don't count them.

That's exactly correct.
