66 Nova alignment

I’m working with my dad on his 66 Nova(stocker) and we are looking for some help with the front end aligment. Looking for where to start with caster, camber and toe. Thanks for any information in advance.

Camber 0 caster 2-3 degrees(top ball joint behind lower)the more you have the straighter it will track but can add bumpsteer toe in 0-in 1/8" @ front

Gary,
Man, that was a long time ago, about 40 years! No I'm not pissed! Been a lot of racing since then. I'm still around, and very active for 73 years old. I been rebuilt a couple of times, Heart bypass, etc. ride a bicycle, 10 miles every day, and am in very good health.
I still live in uptown Wahoo, but travel to Indiana a lot to help my son Todd, with his Opel GT drag racer that we built. It is very good to hear from you!

Old Injun,

Do the math ya old fart. The post he said he was 73 was written in 2012.

Eddie never got to meet you but always enjoyed watching your cars run. You could always tell who ran your front end versus stock . Enjoy life, family and racing Eddie.

Have you, or any one else, ever aligned a Chevy 2, using stock parts, and no bending arms, or relocating pivot points, etc, that has 5" up & down travel, without any toe change whatever? My kit will accomplish this! The kit is a bolt on set up, that requires no changes at all to the rest of the stock suspension, just bolt it in, adjust it as per my instructions, and go racing.

James,
I did not want to get into an argument over this subject! You are correct in stating, that any good front end tech, using stock parts, can align a 1968 & newer Chevy 2 front end, like the 1969 that you race. The 1962-67 Chevy 2, is a totally defferent ball game. Just ask anyone that races one. Having said this I will sign off now as we are not talking about the same thing.
Good luck at the race's, Eddie Rezac

Re: 66 Nova alignment

Eddie ,I believe James also owns an early Chevy II SS'er. I don't know who built it originally.
James, this is easy enough to settle. Just post a picture of your steering assembly.
We're going to assume then ,that it has stock length tie rods, center link, steering arms, and idler arms. Just a regular alignment , like you'd get at the tire store.

Eddie, you know you can have a logo posted here, as part of your sponsorship package, right?

Mark no magic. Just stock front end other than qa1. Shocks. Nothing to see
From what I understand you need to check Aligment at ride hight
No expert just the nut behind the wheel. I own a 1967 nova. And a 1969
I may no something

Question about bump steer?
When the front wheels come up in the air and come down and they wobble like crazy for a few seconds is this what is considered bump steer??

No, most people call that a "Death Wobble". Bump steer is the toe change that occurs when, the front wheels travel up ,& down, which in turn can cause the tires to scrub while going down the track, with even the smallest movement, of the front end action. Thus, the need to correct this so there is no change in the toe, what so ever! Just setting the toe to ride height, on a Chevy @, and many other cars will not accomplish this. The toe on a Chevy 2, can change as much as 2", in 5" of up & down travel. My kit will fix this problem.

Not just any old school suspension guy, but someone like Jack Arnew! He was the best in the business. There are still many cars around with his system. I believe they are still in the business, but you would have to take him your car to do a lot of changing to the suspension. My problem when I built the 1st kit for myself back in 1978, was because of living in Nebraska, was the 3500 mile round trip to the east coast. So I designed my own kit, with some help from some great friends, Larry Tores, and Jack Davis. I then found that I could send it to anyone, and they could install it them selves, as per my instructions, and go racing.

Thanks Eddie planning on doing an alignment sometime between now and end of year.
How much is your kit and I assume it will work with any chevy 2 oil pan?

I sell it on an exchange basis. If you send me a core it is $600.00, in the continental US, that includes shipping & ins. . Call me for all the details. It does fit all Chevy 2 pans, including the after market ones.
