67 GTOs @ Donnybrook and MN Dragways in the day
We were discussing class legal stockers and several ol 67 GTOs were brought up that raced at Donnybrook and Minnesota Dragways back in the day. We all agree that Greg Murnane of St. Paul owned the light green Limelighter car. Does anyone remember who raced the medium blue with white interior 2 dr post car? Some of us think that it may have also been another car raced by Greg, but in a different year. The last one is a dark green with a black vinyl top HT car with color matched Hurst wheels from the Virginia MN area. These were all stick cars that ran very hard in the day. Thanks in advance if you know any tidbits or stories about these cars.

Seen your post but don't really have any info or pics to help you out on this one...maybe some of the other bow-tie guys on here can chime in and help you out.

Thanks Moose, there should be someone that remembers these cars as they were very competitive and were raced in the stock class when new.

Re: 67 GTOs @ Donnybrook and MN Dragways in the day
I have another question, could someone tell me if this was John Hagen's old race car, or was that another person with the same last name?

Nice link Moose, I went through all the photos hoping to see either of the GTOs, but no such. I appreciate the excellent link to the old Minnesota Dragways, sure brings back some good old memories.

Re: 67 GTOs @ Donnybrook and MN Dragways in the day
I believe that it was named " Limelighter " and it was owned and raced by Greg Murnane of St. Paul. It was light green with a black vinyl top. The other two stick cars were hard runners too. I talked to the dark green car's owner at Red River Valley Dragways ( Sabin, MN ) in the day and he mentioned that it was purchased and set up at Royal Pontiac in Royal Oak, MI. I remember that he put away a hemi plymouth for top stock on that Sunday. I hope to chase this down and hopefully figure out who owned those good running 67 Goats. By the way Moose, nice shot of the old Minnesota Dragways. I found that one and many other photos from there in my search to run this down. Thanks to all the posters on the thread.

Here we have proof once again,, that 4-wide is nothing new, in upper shot. Bottom photo has a very nice looking '66 Goat,, but I'd love to own the '66 442 in front of it. Nice job. Danny Durham |

In this old thread, they talk about the "Limelighter" '67 GTO Stocker. But, if there were any pics of it posted, they are not showing up, now.
Here are the pics I have of it, as well as 3 other '67 GTO Stockers. |

Re: 67 GTOs @ Donnybrook and MN Dragways in the day
It looks like Greg Murnane was killed in an aircraft accident at Shale mountain on December 30, 1982. Evidently he was an A&P mechanic and pilot instructor.
