The other -1.200 run at Sportsnationals

Did anybody notice the -1.200 under run for GT/MA on the trophy run?

How about the battle for SS/LA supremacy? Garrett Ghezzi with his '69 AMX vs. Bill Rink in his '74 GTO? Both agreed to stay in it even if red lighting.
Rink leaves 1st with a -.021 light, Ghezzi leaves with a -.009 light (guess both had too much adrenelin in the veins!). But they stayed in it and it was door handle to door handle all the way to the stripe. Ghezzi takes the lead with a 10.502 to Rink's 10.512!
Rumor is that Rink was quickly on the phone with Patterson Engineering

He should have been on the phone with NHRA trying to get some aftermarket parts approved for his car.

Seriously  You are NOT going to get sympathy from me on this subject. These two cars were running a second under killing 20mph. You don't think this combo need hp? The C car went 132mph in the final... You show me the last pre-2008 C car to run that kind of mph. That's enough mph to run 10.00 in C. I think the combo will be okay with an extra 50-100#

If thats the case, good thing it was tore down before a horsepower hit was handed out.

Any details on why it did not pass?

Re: The other -1.200 run at Sportsnationals

I might have a little something to say with regards to SS/LA...as I went 10.46 at BIR in 'Bracket Mode', then went 10.35 in Earville, Ia in SS/KA a couple weeks later at ALMOST LA weight.

Just Sayin'

The little Voges 305 is FLYIN'..........now, if we can only be smart about it, and avoid a Hp hit. 2013 could be VERY interesting.

Re: The other -1.200 run at Sportsnationals

First of all I want to say that Garrett is a friend of mine. This statement does not reflect negatively on him. That being said one of those parts that the AMC's got a few weeks ago is what made that race so close. Going from a small AFB to a 780 Holley had to be .10 to.15. That's what happens when someone who has no clue about stock and super stock make decisions like this.

Re: The other -1.200 run at Sportsnationals

Or maybe it was the HUGE HP increase Garret found AFTER the Carb was installed many races ago? Garret's run that Holley for a few years in IHRA (as it was accepted about 8+ years ago). Im not going to say what unleashed more HP because it''s not my position to say so. But he's teamed up with Adkins and he ain't no slouch on the dyno! The Holley is good but it's not NOS.

When I was racing my car a low 10.50 was about 125+ mph, was the mph slow for everybody at Columbus? Travis what was you mph at the 10.46? Tom

Re: The other -1.200 run at Sportsnationals

Tom, Since I am from Nebraska, I am going to chime in. As I recall, you race a 283.....Nebraska has no "sea level" tracks. Smaller cube engines kill MPH more than ET at altitude. 125 MPH should be around 10.35-40 at a sea level track. Correct me if I am wrong (it often happens....just ask my wife)....

And Lots of people still spend LOTS of money to "enjoy" the events knowing the changes and the politics will always be the things which upset 90% of the racers. The only thing which ties everyone is the fact they dream of being the lucky 10% next season when their motor gets aftermarket heads, a bigger cam, a 3 speed trans or they win the lottery and buy a Mustang..

The little lt-1 's have been increased from 275 hp to 346 hp over the years. Maybe they will give us a 100lb. Back. Right' biggg
