Air shifter

I am working on a NSS Plymouth that has a Biondo air shifter mounted on a Cheetah shifter for a Torqueflite. What activates the solenoid - does that work off a timer? Car has a 7AL3 MSD box. Not familiar with these shifters. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Air shifter

Rick, you have a rpm controled switch output on the 7AL3.
Just pick your shift point and use the proper chip in the shift rpm socket.

Re: Air shifter

So it will activate the 1-2 and 2-3 shift from the MSD?

Re: Air shifter

There is two parts to that system, the air shifter, and the controller. You should be able to control the shift rpms independently. I think the controller uses the tach signal from the MSD.

No solenoid, no air bottle, no rpm switch needed!

This is what I use. Works great.

Rick, I think the 7AL3 will only be good for 1 shift point .
I've used the Biondo DDI-1067 on a couple of cars with 3-speeds ,it can make up to 4 shifts.

I shift by hand. There are advantages to it.

Right on!! It's called DRIVING the race car as opposed to just STEERING the race car! Jim

The Biondo deal was in the car when I got it - doesn't mean I will use it. Just curious. Thanks for the input. By the way the hood in the picture WILL NOT be on the car. I have the correct Hemi hood scoop for that year.

Beautiful car Rick! Oh and BTW, when you see me post with the smiley face :) it means I was being light hearted! Don't take offense by the post please. Jim

No offense taken Jim. Car has been in storage and looks better in the pictures than in person, but it's getting there. Plans are to run the car with my Wedge motor to get the car sorted out then plug in the all aluminum Hemi that my engine builder has in his shop. Should be a fun ride.

Thanks for planning to change the hood. Mopar racers that use chevy lump hoods need to be excommunicated for the Mopar Nation or buried in a NJ land fill.

There will be no Mopars with cowl hoods in my garage.
