RIP Jeff Velde
With a heavy heart! I just wanted to let everyone know that my uncle Jeff Velde passed away late last night after a long and hard fought battle with cancer. He touched a lot of people in the racing world and he will be truly missed! Rest in peace Jeffrey! When I get more info about the services I will post.

Re: RIP Jeff Velde
So awfully sorry to hear this, Bret! Your Uncle Jeff was a very big part of the drag racing experience I had when I lived in Coral Springs, FL. I always had to smile every time I saw the trailer with "Velde Ford" painted on it, and I saw it a lot!
I hope he's at peace now. My condolences and prayers for you and your family. Lew Silverman (ex-Horsepower Sales of S. Florida employee) |

Re: RIP Jeff Velde
This is truely sad to hear. After seeing that red 68 Mustang run in the mid 70's I knew as a 20 year old that I wanted to be a super stocker and Jeff Velde was my Idol for many years. My condolence to the Velde family my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Re: RIP Jeff Velde
Jeff Velde was as good as they get. He fought the illness just like he raced. He never gave up, and he always did his best at everything he did. He was a major inspiration for me as a young boy. I remember well when he bought the NItro 9 car and put Velde Ford on the car. He was dominant then, and had a string of good race cars after that. More important than the cars was the way he conducted himself. Always a gentleman, and someone to look up to. He will be missed by all who knew him. Our thoughts and prayers are with Pat and the girls, Bret, and the whole family. Rest in peace, Jeff Velde.

Re: RIP Jeff Velde
Please accept my condolences.
Even though I'm not a Ford guy, for some reason his car stood out at some of the races I attended years ago, like the Turkey Trots in Orlando, FL. RIP |

Re: RIP Jeff Velde
As Jeff Colvert said, when I was young I idolized the Velde SS/F car. That car and my father's experience with FE's were the reason I got into Cobra Jet cars. Bought my first one in 73 and still own it. Anyway over the years I got to know Jeff pretty good. He would always go out of his way to say hello to me. I will always remember him as being just a great person. He will be missed. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Re: RIP Jeff Velde
My father I had had the opportunity to meet Jeff at Englishtown in 2006. What a great racer, businessman, and gentleman as many people have commented on. He was very supportive of our racing endeavors and many others. I would always go over to his dealership when I would be on vacation in Florida and spend a couple hours talking racing and visiting his "secret room" as he called it to check out the race car. He always told stories about the old super stock days and how Velde Ford became what it is today. He was very inspirational to say the least and he will be missed by many. Rest in Peace Jeff! We're going to miss you!

Re: RIP Jeff Velde
I'm sure many of you know that Jeff owned my car for 6 years. I sold it to Jeff in 2000 and purchased it back in 2006. Jeff did more to my car then I could every do and was grateful he gave me the chance to buy it back.
I have a great story on how I came to buy it back. Jeff called me up one day and said would you like to buy it back. I said I would love to, but I know you have so much invested I most likely could not afford it. He told do you remember what we talk to when I bought the Shelby, I said yes but that was 6 years ago. He said well that's what I want for it and when you get the money, it will be waiting for you. I told him I know people that would give you more for the car, he said no, its here in my race shop waiting for you when your ready, I want you to have it. What can I say, the story tells volumes about who Jeff was. Jeff was a kind man and very generous man. Soft spoken, always with a smile on his face and loved racing. My heart goes out to his wife and family and close friends, he will be missed. Below is a link to the funeral home with info about Jeff and when the services will be held. Sad news indeed. Always loved Jeff's many cars, particularly the B/FX Pinto he drove in the early 1980s. RIP
