Re: Shubeck style lifters
S mith Machine was making the Schubeck style lifters the last time I heard. My 2 cents about them is there are better ( safer ) ways to go.

Re: Shubeck style lifters
What is the story on tool steel lifters? I have a Bullet stocker cam that is a steel billet, with Smith lifters. Would that cam be compatible with tool steel lifters? At least those don't have a puck that can come loose, shatter, and fill an engine with glass particles.

Anyone who is building a new engine should investigate tool steel lifters. They will not come apart and cause extensive internal engine damage. Hopefully, the people at Smith lifters can find the reason why their product is failing and correct the problem. |
Re: Shubeck style lifters
Who makes the tool steel lifters? I've heard about them and don't have a recommended brand name. Will they work with that steel cam I have?

Re: Shubeck style lifters
Are these lifters legal with a hydraulic camshaft, like the Schubecks? Their webpage says solid lifter.

Re: Shubeck style lifters
My boo-boo. The previous response was for a industry newsletter.
Here is Trend. They don't show it but I called to confirm the offer a .012" "cheater" hydraulic lifter which satisfies NHRA / IHRA requirements. Price for a set of 16 .904" Chrysler quoted was $610 with a micro-polish finish, $661 with an EDM oil feed at the foot or $1,285 for their coated body (EDM not available on coated as the coating would flake off). These are street prices. http://www.trendperform.com/index.ph...ts&type=lifter Also see Precision Products Performance - PPP as they also offer tool steel lifters that will work. Or contact Sherman. |
