LIVE from IHRA World Finals at Memphis
 

Well, after a long but relatively easy drive of about 11 hrs with all the stops for food and fuel. Ran into a 10 mile stretch of construction not far from Columbus which took awhile to crawl through, but after that it was pretty clear sailing even through Cincy, Louisville, and Nashville.

I got a call from Terry Knott, who owns the Dart Sport I qualified for the Tournament of Champions with. It's developed a miss, and they haven't been able to diagnose it yet. He's working on it, but there's that possibility that he won't be able to make it this weekend. In the event of that worst case scenario, if someone is running Stock this weekend in the Sportsman Spectacular that's not in the TOC, and you'd like a shot at making some money, I may be available. Fingers crossed that he can get the Dart fixed, but can't hurt to have a backup plan.

Rolled into the track a little after 9 Eastern. Got back an hour with the time change of course! They had a few sprinkles today which cancelled the test and tune and ledt a few puddles here and there, but the ground seems solid in those few areas that aren't paved. Myron reported some preliminary weather readings better than 400' DA. Humid tonight, making the temps in the 50's feel warmer than it is. Didn't even have to don my jacket while unloading. Weather should be interesting over the course of the weekend, with projected shifts in wind direction and a Saturday spike
in temps up to the mid 80's before falling back into the low 70's for Sunday.

I'll report in as I can, although it may be a very busy weekend shoeing (hopefully!) two cars.

The "Live Timing" is awesome.

Congrats to IHRA for doing this.
They care about the sportsman guys and those of us not there.

Whats the matter with "the other guys" ? Too cheap to do it???

Terry got the car running right, but too late to get here. I've got a couple of rides lined up -- thanks to everyone who offered or checked up on me!

Ironically, been having problems with the Volare stumbling on the starting line. Threw the kitchen sink at it, Duck Taped over the dent it left, and will try some workarounds tomorrow. Still in, luckily.

Thanks to Ed McCleaft (Quick Rod) for the Sheila G's Brownie Brittle sampler. Hit the spot!

Neat facility. A little like Palm Beach, having the road course. Track surface is great, nice big green LED scoreboards. Temps were 71-76 today. Very humid, but still around 1300' except in the heat of the day. Finally got pleasant late in the day when the breeze kicked up.

Hopefully will actually have to go take pics tomorrow.

We are about 80 miles out! Had a blow out on th trailer that set us back a bit. We Had a 12 hour ride....nor too bad!

Rnd 2 was random pairing, but they still had heads-up runs. I was sweatin' it too when I was first in the lanes and then Cantusci rolled in. I had a 50/50 chance of getting him, and lucked out.

Forecast for tomorrow keeps looking worse, even chance of hail, tornado's, and other fun stuff. Decision has been made to run everything to completion today.

Been able to work in the shop all day with my laptop by my side.

Thanks everyone, plus ClassRacer for the Amsoil certificate! Nice surprise. Long story and need to get on the road, but thanks to Mike Volkman, Mark Nowicki, and especially Brent Darroch for their help this weekend. Didn't get to bed til 3am after loading up and me and Myron rolling through the drive thru at Mickey D's. Time to log some miles. Full report later.

I was watching the Live IHRA feed, what happened in the semi's...you both pulled up to the lights and did burnouts, and then the lights went down for about 10 minutes.
