mopar racers

My father owns a 69 super bee and I was wondering why aren't there more racing? Where have all the b body cars gone?

Jeff Teuton has one of them I think.
There are a few other B bodies racing out there.

We sold ours but I plan on getting it back, NOT FOR A RACE CAR THOUGH. To my knowledge they are too heavy and really aren't competitive in any of the classes. It is one of my favorite cars ever!

Why aren't they competitive? Do they have a bad horsepower rating?

Re: mopar racers

Gregory Gay in Division 1 has a C/SA Super Bee. John Leach has a Road Runner also in C/SA I believe and Francois Periard has an A/SA Road Runner. I'm thinking there aren't more because the E-bodies run the same engine combinations, are a bit lighter, and have a shorter wheelbase. It's really cool to see the B-Bodies on the track though !!!

That is Chuck Stubecks SS/FA car (if I am not mistaken) Chatsworth California. Still runs hard.

I wish you well with getting it back, because after last weeks Jegs Pacific Sportsnationals in 'Vegas, Chad Loge's '70 GTX was 3rd quickest in E/SA, and within .18 of the quickest car in that class, besides being 27th qualifier out of a field of 58 cars. More significantly, he also qualified for regular eliminations at Indy this year (123rd qualifier, at -.800 under the E/SA index), inspite of all of those more popular combos, and the newer stuff...knowing how well you guys power mopars, I'm sure you can at least do that good with the great history you've had given the vast variety of mopar bodies your shop has campaigned over the years...the weight of the car will be a non-issue with you guys too....

Nice pics I know his as it is now is a 383. Hey Joseph is the 440 harder to get to run the number because of its size compared to the Cuba and duster? I figure as the oldest the bee should be mine in the future.....ha

Francois' car is a sight to behold. If you've never seen it leave, your missing out. 10.20's in B/SA at damn near 4000 lbs is getting it done!

I ran this B- Body Mopar from 1977 to 1997 in Division 1. I ran a 340 first, then a 360 in K/SA, L/SA, M/SA, and N/SA. Set 3 National records too along the way. Still got it in moth balls, maybe I'll get back out someday??

Thank you very much, Dennis. I hope so too..... For what it is worth, the Roadrunner is a Stock eliminator car, but I am kind of stuck in between classes. Right now, the engine is a 440/375........stock eliminator engine. I am sure you know, Roadrunners did not have this engine in 1969. They had the six pack, 383, and Hemi. Before I go out and buy the intake, carbs and hood, I have sent a request to NHRA to alter the class guide for the 69 GTX to include a "coupe" or post car like mine. Then I just change emblems and run it in D-E/SA. Or else, with the 6 pack it will B/SA

Why not just change the quarter glass to the hardtop glass?

I rest my case on Chad Loge's car and Rettig Bros (aka. Steve Wann) horsepower!!!

The #1 reason that should I get a mopar to race, I'll most likely be paying Steve a visit!!!

Thanks Caleb for the photos, of those two cool cars.... :)
