Theft
When we quit racing we put our corvette and trailer in secure storage. Guess there is no such thing. Came to the trailer to check on things today and found that someone had been in the trailer and helped themselves to a lot of stuff. The only good news in this is the sheriff got some really good DNA samples. Please keep your eyes open for the following stolen from central Texas. Biggest item is complete Jim lewis 350/270 complete carb to Pam with msd distributor. Would run 1.00 under. Two munsinger converters one for 200, one for 350, two Pro Star front wheels with Goodyear frontrunners, two 8 in rear Prostars with old Goodyear radials, two aerospace front calipers, lots of MSD spare parts and a lot of other stuff that I can't remember yet. We had been talking about racing some next year but doesn't look like that will happen now. Please watch out for this stuff and contact us if any is located. Thanks for your help. Mike McMahan

Re: Theft
Watch Craigslist for your parts. I hate thieves and hope you catch the ____'s!
|
Re: Theft
Also watch www.craiglook.com, which is now claz.org....you can specify a search range by zip code and it searches Craiglist, racingjunk, etc....dont stop watching racingjunk, but this is another option.
Hope they find and hang the worthless thieves. Clark |
Re: Theft
Sorry about your loss, I hope they catch them and you get it all back. Any damage to the car or trailer?

Re: Theft
Not that I pay alot of attention of what goes on over there but the OP might want to go over to yellow bullet and tear someone a new one. Look for the thread in trash or be trashed titled

Re: Theft
Thanks to all of you who have contacted me or offered to watch out for the parts. I have been contacted by another racer who lives about 30 miles from here whose trailer was broken into I believe last week. Just a heads up so that you Central Texas racers can check your trailers security. I am still finding things missing and will try to post a list next week but items to be added are a new set of Performance welding merge collecters, MSD 7AL2, lots of hand tools, air tools, air compressor, etc. Thanks again. Re: Theft
Trailer Alarm with GPS will not only set off lights, etc but if they do not move the trailer the regular alarm activates the GPS alarm and it sends out 5 text messages and 5 emails to let you know somebody is messing with your stuff.
Look Here: www.TrailerAlarmZ.com and you can see what is available to protect your valuable equipment when you can't park your stuff in your yard and use the 9mm for security. Jok |
Re: Theft
Thanks Jok will check it out.

Re: Theft
Most stolen items will show up 25 miles or less from where they were taken. Also spread the word around local area performance part retailers, vehicle fabricators, engine builders, etc. Tell all of your car guy contacts and have them spread the word. The more guys on the lookout for your stuff the better the chance you will catch the slime ball.

Re: Theft
Just an update for everyone. Two more race car trailers were broken into since mine. In one instance there was nothing in the trailer to steal. I don't know about the other one. I think they were both enclosed trailers used by some high dollar dirt track racers. There is now a suspect in custody. Not sure yet if this is the people who hit mine & haven't recovered any of my stuff yet but maybe there is a chance.

Re: Theft
That is good news. Sounds like they seem to feel safe operating in the same area?

Re: Theft
Hope they cut his n**ts off.

Re: Theft
I can finally post an update to this theft. Law enforcement had asked me to wait while they continued searching for one of the suspects. Four people have been arrested and charged with the burglary of my trailer and the theft of thousands of dollars of my racing equipment. The good news is that the Sheriffs Department recovered the single most expensive item taken, my Chev 350/270 Jim Lewis Stocker motor. There were some other items recovered but it will still take thousands of dollars to put the car back together. Soon I will post a parts wanted list to see if any of you may have items for sale that I need. Thanks, Mike

Re: Theft
Great update, hope the punishment is tough enough to discourage others SOB's.

Mike, let me tell you how lucky you are to get your engine back! That is really good news because that engine could have been sold to someone who installed it in a street car and gone forever. It would not have been the end of the world if your engine was not recovered. Jim Lewis would have built you an even better Chevy engine with more H.P. That what Lewis does. |
Re: Theft
We make it a point to not leave anything valuable in our trailer because we have to keep it at a storage lot. But, one day last year some douche bags tried to break in, got nothing but, ended up doing quite a bit of damage to the side and rear doors trying to get in.

Re: Theft
mike glad to see they caught them.i wish i could say the same.no one want's to rat out the trash that stole my stuff.but i am still making life bad for him.

Re: Theft
Glad you got your motor back Mike, would the cops let you have a few alone minutes with the guy ? LOL
|
Re: Theft
Thanks Guys. I know how lucky I was to get anything back. A little later I will be able to give you some more details, probably after the trial. Norvell, They probably don't want to leave me alone with them but I hope to testify at the sentencing part of the trial. This ain't these guys first rodeo. Hope to be able to get enough stuff together to race some next year. If anyone is missing a helmet that has NHRA Winston Division 2 Champion on it pm me.

Re: Theft
Glad to hear Mike. Hope you can get back out soon!
