Autolite double platinum plugs? Also indexing?
Are they good for a racing application? Naturally aspirated. 13.5 to compression.
I've never used them, but they are a semi retracted tip (half way between the plugs I am currently using and the stock champion plugs) plug with a fine electrode. They will fit without worrying about the pistons colliding with them. Also how should the plug face. If I use the indexing washers? |

Artie, only time I ever saw any reason to indexing plugs was to prevent knocking the ends off. I have played with indexing with the car I have now and saw nothing. But, I don't have Hemi chambers. Might make a difference.
I would use plain old non-platinum Autolite plugs. I would want my plugs at least .050" off the pistons at TDC. Closer may require more advance. Something to play with. |

Art, I had a brain fart (nothing new) but extended plugs often need a half degree or so less advance than retracted tips. Changing types of plugs may change that too. Naturally you want to try less first.

I would recommend the following Autolite Racing plug numbers: AR3932X or AR3933X The AR3932X is a colder plug. |

The Autolite X plug shown is 3/4 reach gasket seat, They do make a .708 tapered seat X plug I have all of the X plugs in stock.

So, for a 2000 Neon application, the spark plug is not tapered, it uses a gasket and the above racing plug will work. You should look at the tapered plug that Rich (quickford1) has available. |

To try to answer everybody at once I will try to explain the X plug. It was first used in Nascar because of ground straps burning off or breaking off, they are made by both Autolite& Champion in limited heat ranges and numbers .They are used by just about every team. They are available 708 tapered seat & 3/4 reach gasket seat. The best part is no need to index. These plugs are made in limited runs so are hard to get sometimes.

The hottest they make in a X plug is a AR471X-10 it is equal to a 472 or S57C champion. Rich |

I happen to run an AR 92 or AR 94. Looks similar in shape and design when it comes to the AR3922 plug other than the tapered seat.

The AR92&AR93 are a .708 reach tapered seat plug ,both are power tip plugs that are good for some HP if you have some piston to plug clearance. 92=472 & 93=473 I have plenty of both.
