Stock class racing seats

I was just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on the Jaz Polyethylene racing seats? Also do you think are the Summit/Jegs brand the same as the Jaz brand?
Thanks Jerry

You would be better off in the long run with an aluminum seat. The plastic seats have molded-in threads that can pull-out over time. A friend has one of those in a bracket car and after two years, the threads are already starting to pull-out of the seat, and he's not a real heavy fellow either. My .02.

poly seats belong in dune buggies ( or Phillip's car). As much as I disliked being required to run seats that in some cases are over 50 years old, installing a plastic one with molded in "inserts" seems even worse. There Phillip, are you happy now. Wasn't even going to reply till i read your reply.

Mine have through bolts. I can't imagine anybody trusting threaded bolt holes I. Their seats, no matter what they are made of.

I think I have the summit seats. I have the driver side thru bolted to the floor and cage. Nice comfortable seat. Light weight too.

Mine are RCI. Last two years they changed to a softer vinyl. Looks nice, but crawling in & out tears them at the snaps pretty quick. Put new covers in (again) about mid season last summer. By Indy I had black Duck tape on the driver's side. I need to do something different now I guess. First set of covers lasted three years. Less than three weeks with these new covers.

Oh my, Seems as though I'm not the only one careless enough to have a RCI seat in a racecar. Who would have thought........

Thanks Chad, You never fail to amuse me.

my question is, does this rule mean we can use a 4dr seat in a 2dr?

Not unless the rule changed recently.

Uhhh. Actually it did.

I don't think you would have a hard time with this. Just find an "aftermarket" bench seat. I would not go into to much detail as to where it came from . It will look more normal than kirkeys and other will and that are clearly legal.

Are these really the same seats that come in the new DPs?
Are people using them?
I'm guessing "no"?
Have to be plastic, right?

Ed, those are Procar seats. The ones I have, have welded tubular steel frames with zigzag springs. I'm sure they are made in China but they seem pretty sturdy.

I know old seats can be a safety issue thing but why would you want anything other than a factory seat. I cant imagine having anything but my factory 68 Camaro seats....super comfortable. This is one rule that I wont be jumping on....weight savings or not. Maybe ill put a Kirkey on the passenger side of my car and keep the factory bucket for comfortable racing HAHAHAH
