Friday All-Run CIC Race

Just got word from Mike Rice with NHRA that we can have an all-run CIC race on Friday of the JEG'S Cajun SportsNationals. There will be one qualifying time trial first thing on Friday, then we go into the CIC race. Class eliminations will be on Saturday.

We'll run the CIC race like we did last year, with a .70-under CIC adjustment in the next round. Stock vs. Stock and Super Stock vs. Super Stock until we get down to 16 cars or less. Qualifying at 16 or less will be from prior round, using best non-red reaction time for the laddering.

Until we get down to 16 remaining, pairings will be drawn from four lanes. First card goes into the left lane; the next card will have the right lane. Once on the ladder, the highest qualified driver will have lane choice.

The CIC race is open to all stock and super stock entries. You will have to run the class in which you qualified in first round. If you missed the qualifying run, you must run the class that you entered your car during tech inspection.

Should make for a fun time.

Can we run the CIC race in one class and race Class in another. May run big car with six pac for cic and switch to single 4 for class and elms?

Larry, surely you have heard of Lori Morgan, good looking country & western singer. She has a big hit "What Part of No Don't You Understand". That was just too easy.

Make it a qualified field. Get rid of random pairing for this race!

Byron. How could you ladder a FREE event like the CIC?

You don't need to make a qulifing pass to run the event

You don't know how many cars are running the main event and not the CIC race.

No entry fee so you don't know how many cars are running the event.

The only way you could ladder this event is after first round. Its just to much work to ladder a FREE race like this, In the early rounds. Now if racers were paying a entry fee then we have a different story. Just for the record I would love to see this race laddered. But I will run it either way.

Will the AHFS be in effect for the CIC race?

Charlie Bob wanted me to ask in case he needs to pour the coals to that machine of his! ;)

Charley, so you are making the trip? CJ or Truck?

It just got 10 times harder for an old car to win the CIC race. In years past, if you could evade a Drag Pack or Cobra Jet for a round or 2, some of them would be gone. Now, as populated as the upper classes are, and with the addition of the COPOs, it will be a tall order to go rounds.

Good Luck to everybody,

See you guys at the St Louis Open....

To be honest all I care about is eating massive amounts of craw daddy's . My CJ would be a dead player in the CIC race this year.

Wade you have a three speed now. What are you worried about?

The car is still apart, but we will make it. Want me to bring my spare driveshaft? LOL.
As far as pairing, all that Pat has to do is to run all 2008 and newer cars together the first two rounds.....:)

It was an older than 2008 that took me out a couple of years ago. Last year didn't count. I think Charlie dusted me, but that was 36 hours before I had a hip changed. So that don't count. We have a new CIC weapon this year. To be disclosed later.

Charley, you crack me up. I really dont think that will put me into your league. You know a guy has it good when he is willing to leave a 1.60 under car (Knife) home to bring a truck (Gun)!! We should all have it so good!

And to be perfectly clear, I did not ask for changes to the CIC race, I was stating my opinion.

Nah, its even worse than that. As far as a V10 stick, I am a little worried on hitting a clutch with a 740 lb/ft torque. Feet, toes, ankles or worse. But then again.........

Chuck D. Its the 5.7 hemi stick thats the the one that will be crazy fast. Should be a high 9 second F/S car. Not that a 10.40 I/S car isn't a rocket.

Charley, did you build a 1986 chevy truck? 350 stick U/S 14.65, 3470 with driver, should run about 3 seconds under the index, Thats 80 pounds more than my 305 M/SA malibu.Tom

Re: Friday All-Run CIC Race

I do not understand why it is not like last year, Class Winners ONLY! Last year needed a ladder, we got the #6 qualifier (Mr. Candies) first round then #1 (Mr. Jacobs) second round and we were qualified #9. The spirit of the CIC race is to get the best of the best up against eachother and run them off like Competition Eliminator. I cannot understand how this can become such a difficult task. If need be I will volunteer to create the ladder for the event. We should race the class runs on Thursday with 1 qualifying run, then CIC on Friday; therefore allowing time for teardown if need be, and all other compertitors in STK/SS can get additional Test runs during the CIC race (in parallel).

I would say wait until they do it and see if the car counts pick up. I'm sure that is why they are doing it. (if it isn't a time thing I remember one year they cancelled it because they ran out of time) No matter how they do it I'll be thankful. They are paying money with zero costs to the racer. How ever they do it I'll run it (as long as I'm not wounded).

Re: Friday All-Run CIC Race

Guys, First, there is no AHFS for the CIC race, since it is considered "an exhibition". Since the CompuLink system is "hard wired" for categories, the CIC race has to be manually calculated by me after each round. A ladder takes a lot to manage, but I can do it when we get down to 16 cars remaining.

With the "card pull" from four lanes wide, it is very difficult to "stack" the lanes or the deck. You may run the left or the right lane; you may run the guy in front of you, behind you, on the side of you, or two lanes over.

NHRA's Mike Rice will be in charge of the race procedures. It is his wish to have the CIC race open to all Stk/SS contestants. It is my wish to have our fans see "first to the finish line" racing. Going with Mike's plan, they will get to see that on Friday with the CIC race, and again on Saturday with class eliminations.

True, the card system might get you a duck; or turn you into a duck, depending on who you are paired to run. If duck-luck is with you, your opponent might sleep, turn on the red, break a tranny, cross the center line, or any one of the other million and five ways to give up sure win. If your duck luck ain't worth a pluck, you can buck up, and admit that you suck. But hey, it didn't cost you a buck to try your luck. But really, who gives a flying (gotcha). :)

Pat. Years ago when they ran both stock and superstock elims at local tracks. They would just random pair the first round. We would try to get in the middle of a flock of turkeys I'm surprised I didn't get run over the way I used to block certain cars.
Every once in a while a "turkey" would grow big claws and tear our backsides up.
Thanks for running the race.
