D/S @ Gateway

The two D/S cars are flying in StLouis this weekend.
2nd rd. Duzac goes 10:32 @ 127.94 that's one bad hot rod right there.
127.94 mph out of a 302 CI motor blows my mind, congrads to all involved in that car.

Thanks Monte. My partner and crew chief is responsible for making the calls. There are two other guys Ben Wenzel and Jerry McNeish can just as well as us! Again, many thanks!

1320 /127.94 = 10.32

You guys have that zippin' Z dialed in! That's an outrageous MPH on a little 302. I'm impressed!

What kind of air was that in?

Chris, we have a 8900 chip in the rev limiter and about 50 ft before the finish line the engine starts to pop and flutter.

:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: WOW!!!! That's very impressive. How long do your valve springs and lifters last at that rate?

Next time put a microphone back under the rear bumper and play it for us. I want to hear that! :)

Yes he does! I'll be happy if I can get within 1/2 second of them guys.

The last time out with our car in stocker trim which was 1994 I think, it went 11.21 @ 120 with a motor built in 1985. So I'm hoping that 28 years of technology will gain me something I just don't see it being 9 tenths.

John, that's just bad ***! I can't wait to hear that run down the track.

Congrats on how well your running. I hope to meet you at Bowling Green and or Indy this year. Great job..

Chris, we run Pac Racing springs and have never had any trouble with them. Pac Springs hold their pressure. Also, we hardly ever run the car that hard due to the AFIS.

Todd Hoven, I really do not think we are going to the Bowling Green points meet prior to Indy. I would love to go to that race but would have to slow the car down some. We really do not know how much of an effect the hot air will have on the car. I know it will hurt the performance, but just how much time will tell. My guess is about two tenths slower.

To my knowledge I would say the 10.32 @ 127.94 that John just went is the fastest and quickest of any D/S car that I know of.

In my opinion D/S is one of the most competitive classes there is and all with real cars that you could buy off the showroom. With the likes of John Duzac, Danny Byrd, Jerry McNeish, Ben Wenzel, Todd Hoven, Adam Stang, Tim Tosto, Jim Schaechter, Brian Rogers, Doug Auxier, Brad Zaskowski,G. Monde and I'm sure I've missed a few. Then you have the on going threat of Jeff Lee if he ever finishes that AMX lol. Not to mention Kevin Stubbs if he added the weight.

Sorry for any miss spelled names.

Kris, almost. The quickest D/S run to date is by Danny Byrd. 10.31 @ 126.36 from the Belle Rose event this year.

I thought there was a B/S or C/S Z28 running.
Have they hit the 9's yet?

George and Wade, right on the mark, as close and as competitive these two cars/ guys are Gateway/ NHRA should have scheduled a good old fashion two out of three match race. I’m sure it would have been a crowd pleaser at least with the S/SS group.

Perhaps if they are both going to be at Bowling Green later in the year something could be arranged?

Match racing...what an awesome idea! How about if equal class and the top two cars are within .03 of each other in qualifying, they race for 2/3 heads up for the class win? For all classes! Can you imagine the crowd appeal, the racers stepping up to the plate appeal???

69Cobra 04-19-2013 11:14 AM

Re: D/S @ Gateway

That would be cool!!!

Jim, it would be nice to have a match race at Bowling Green. We are a low budget team. If you looked at our operation you will see the reason why we don't do much long distance racing. My partner and I have not planned on making the race at Bowling Green but we will try and make arrangements to attend. Like many of the racers today, the high cost of diesel is killing us.
