Who's participating in the Factory Stock Showdown at E-town?
With Englishtown a little more than 3 weeks away; who is planning to participate in the Factory Stock Showdown? I saw the first Showdown at Indy last year, and even though only 9 cars participated; it was a great show that I thoroughly enjoyed. Chris Holbrook is entered in AAA/SA, so I am fairly certain that he will be in it; let's hear from anyone who plans to run.

Re: Who's participating in the Factory Stock Showdown at E-t
You are correct we will be running the Factory Stock Showdown in E-Town. I look forward to running there. A lot of people don't know that my father Carl,Captain Cobra Jet ran there in late 60's a lot and I was actually born in New Jersey. Hope to see you there.:)

I plan to be there. I'm not super excited about the weights and indexes but I think it's important to support these shootouts. Plus they're fun, especially when you're racing the best of the best.

Re: Who's participating in the Factory Stock Showdown at E-t
I sure hope they would run it on Sunday for an audience to watch and learn of these new cars. Plus it is the only day I can go this year....

Re: Who's participating in the Factory Stock Showdown at E-t
I plan on being their as well to support the class , I have only raced at one in the past but had a good time

Re: Who's participating in the Factory Stock Showdown at E-t
Bo and David, I saw your names on the entry list for Stock; it is good to know that you both are going to run in the Showdown. Hopefully, there will be a decent number of participants.

Re: Who's participating in the Factory Stock Showdown at E-t
I can't wait, the 440hp DP get's to take out 220 lb. The 435hp COPO get's to take out 83 lb and the 416 hp CJ get's to add 60 lb wow ok. When did the 421 hp, 429 hp and 440 hp DP's get to weight 100 lb less then the 416 hp CJ !!!!!!!!!!!!! Did the Ramchargers make the rules up????????

Re: Who's participating in the Factory Stock Showdown at E-t
Roger you have a good point . AHFS should just reduce their HP and be done with it or they should be like everyone else .
Jeff or David please weight in on this |
Re: Who's participating in the Factory Stock Showdown at E-t
They earned their H.P. , how can they reduce it just because of showdown races ?
|
Re: Who's participating in the Factory Stock Showdown at E-t
Cause it's a shootout. 3250, under 400, no ahfs, heads up all brands. if you don't like, don't particiapte. The over 400 cid is 3350 and the specs for the new 426, the copo 427, and the ford 428 or 427 depending on just what Jessee got today and I'm not sure of the specs right now, but I can find out. Or you run the regular class that you would be normally in.

Paula's 2013 COPO is entered.

Re: Who's participating in the Factory Stock Showdown at E-t
So this showdown is during the Nat'l event at Englishtown ? Do the showdown cars qualify for the main race under a special showdown class index ? I'm asking because I don't know . Not sure what is funny about that ...
|
Re: Who's participating in the Factory Stock Showdown at E-t
Billy we have a special index for the race for the class we are in , I'm in FS/SA class on a 10.20 index @3500lbs . There is also no AFHS for the race for these cars including elemination per NHRA
|
Re: Who's participating in the Factory Stock Showdown at E-t
The index for the unblown cars is 10..50. The Blown and V10 is 10.20. And they run in Stock Eliminator and the AHFS does not apply to the Shoot Out cars. I don't think they will be any 426 Mopars there because the first one has not been built all the parts are not yet available. It's really aimed at Indy. But someone could run a 6.1 @ 3350 lbs including driver on the 10.50 index. What Bo and I were joking about is as the full rules become apparent, there will be gnasing of teeth etc as usually goes on because it ain't a 69 Camaro. All Stock specs apply, just those two factors, heads up, and part of Stock Eliminator.

Re: Who's participating in the Factory Stock Showdown at E-t
Hey Jeff - what is the weight on the V10 and the blown cars?

It's simple, the Drag Pak Challenger's have been hit more times. If you ask me the 428 CJ's should be going a lot quicker than they have been. Let's do a quick comparison. On paper the engine restrictions are basically the same except for one huge detail. 58 more cubes which equals about 100 more HP. Even if you cut my calculation in half and call it an extra 50 HP that should still blow away the 6.1 Hemi. I'd take the extra 58 cubes for 100 lbs any day. Cubic Inches 370 vs. 428 = 58 more cubes Compression 12.6 vs. 12.7 = .1 more compression Intake Valve 2.100 vs. 2.085 = .015 smaller Exhaust Valve 1.600 vs. 1.605 = .005 bigger Intake Lift .602 vs. .589 = .013 smaller Exhaust Lift .569 vs. .589 = .020 bigger TB 1.75 vs. 1.75 = same Either way the blower cars have the biggest advantage with the 10.20 index. The Atco race proved that. I ran 9.32 which was 1.18 under my 10.50 index. But Bo ran 8.78 with his 10.00 index making it 1.22 under. For Englishtown he gains 2 tenths on his index and I get to remove 50 pounds. Assuming that's all he had he will have me covered by .18-.20. But hey, let's go racing. I'm looking forward to it. And if anyone needs help don't be afraid to ask. |
Re: Who's participating in the Factory Stock Showdown at E-t
David , when anyone races you they bring all they have . I'm not the car to worry about it's the 5.0 with 2.9 blower thats the car to beat no matter who you are . Nice job on the numbers .
I agree with the other racers , let go race and enjoy the fact's , no AHFS , heads up off index and first to the finish line wins . A big special thanks to NHRA , Ford , GM , Mopar and PC Richards for letting us run this type of racing at NHRA races |

Just wanted to make sure we can get to the minimum Ron |
Re: Who's participating in the Factory Stock Showdown at E-t
Ron,
This away they can't say we couldn't get to min. Lol. I believe they are working on a different weight for the v10. We are in the same boat with both of our v10's! Hope to see you around! |
Re: Who's participating in the Factory Stock Showdown at E-t
Kirkys, yep. 1/2 tank of fuel, yep. One Battery, yep. No weight in the car at all......comes in at 3220 on our scales. So if I can get my Three year old baby girl her 4B license we would still be 50 above minimum.........

Re: Who's participating in the Factory Stock Showdown at E-t
If they would make the rules similar to the P.C. Richard race we just had at Atco it would make more sense. I would change a couple things.
P.C. Richard FS/SA - 10.00 Index - 3500 lbs Supercharged FS/SB - 10.20 Index - 3400 lbs 451+ N/A FS/SC - 10.50 Index - 3300 lbs 300-450 N/A After running a few of these events I think this would work a little better. The weights are a little more realistic. And I'm not knocking what Mr. Richard has done for us. I greatly appreciate everything he does for the sport of Drag Racing. Plus he and his crew are top notch people. Revised FS/SA - 10.00 Index - 3500 lbs Supercharged FS/SB - 10.30 Index - 3500 lbs 451+ N/A FS/SC - 10.40 Index - 3250 lbs 401-450 N/A FS/SD - 10.50 Index - 3250 lbs 300-400 N/A The V10's can't weigh much less than 3500 with an average driver and battery so I figure if you added 100 lbs and a tenth to the index it would even out. Based on actual timeslips the smaller N/A motors could use 50 lbs less. The 426's, 427's, and 428's should have a tenth stiffer index. There is no reason why the 345, 370, and 392 should carry the same index as the bigger ones. Just my opinion. In the end, even if you think your combination has a disadvantage you should run these events to support the cause. Plus It helps show just how fast or slow you really are. If you don't show then we'll never know. It really bothers me when we have special races like this and certain people choose not to run it. Especially when they are there but in a different class. |
Re: Who's participating in the Factory Stock Showdown at E-t
wish i live closer it will be neat to watch and i hate to say it might (should) gain more interest then the hemi shootout gets.
