"Live" from Atlanta double points race 2013
 

Well we are on the road again! We left late yesterday and was making real good time until we got to Chattanooga! Over Monteagle Mountain like a breeze, then we got to the construction in Chattanooga! It took us 45 minutes to go about 5 miles. It was down to 1 lane getting on to I*75. But then we stopped at the first rest area as soon as you get into Georgia and got lucky. We got the very outside spot and was able to even get our back slide out and then I didn't have to crawl over Larry when I had to get up in the middle of the night! So now we have stopped to get fuel and get our nasty motorhome and trailer washed! We should miss the morning rush hour in Atlanta and still get to the track by noon or so!

Always loved floating down Monteagle into that pretty valley...and dreaded hitting Chattanooga and Atlanta traffic the whole time. Getting 2 out of division points opportunities in one weekend is pretty compelling...but who's going to report from Bowling Green? Michael? Dennis?

We are here and parked on part pavement and part grass on the last row of pavement. It is 82 degrees and a little breezy. Chance of a stray thunderstorm this afternoon and tonight and then gorgeous the rest of the weekend. High in high 70s to 80 and even down to 47 one night!

I saw Karen in the sundress and flip-flops riding her bicycle in the pits. Now that is tricky!! Pictures coming a little later. They are teching til about 6 today, I think.

Larry is going up to tech and I am going to try to clean up the motorhome a bit and then get out with my camera.

I'm testing Friday, no racing this weekend. 25th anniversary so I figured I better pay attention to Jackie. Heading to Lake Tahoe Monday for a little vacation but I'll be watching classracer all weekend to see what happens. Best to luck to all the racers and have a great holiday weekend! Stay safe!

My Stock ride is based in PA and headin' to Maple Grove, so I'll be going that direction as well. Sumbunny gotta go keep an eye on Billy and his project car at the Grove! BG and Atlanta races are both great formats. Hate that they're all on top of each other. Good luck to all, wherever everybody ends up!

Darren, I will try to find something out for you after this monsoon passes! It is raining cats and dogs right now. But it looks like after this passes we should be good to go for the weekend.

Larry saw John Livingston in tech. He is driving Painter Stevenson's car this weekend. I knew he couldn't stay retired from racing!!

No pictures yet. I had just started out when this cloud came up so I had to get all the chairs put back up and awning in. I promise I will get some!

The place is filling up fast! There are cars here from out of div. 3 and 4 and of course 2 also. No idea as to how many, but I have seen 20 or more stockers already here.

We talked to the guard when we came back from Sonny's Barbq and he said they would be parking all night. He will take your name and # and you will go back and pay in the morning. You will be on your own to find a spot, but there are plenty still left!

Well Rich and I got here around 4pm. Like Larry said it has rained off an on since then , still is . Mike B. is parked next to us with our old G5. Going to finally make a pass down the track for his first time in it tomorrow.Hope it runs as wellfor him as it did for us . Nitro didn't make the trip he had another engagement .

While yall are doing that, myself and a select group of friends will do what we have done for 27 years, and that is fish the La Maison de Lune fishing tournament. About 40 of us who have gotten old. Somehow we always catch fish, and we always catch beer. We are breaking in Kevin Helms as Beer Boy (a coveted title). He is under the watchful eye of Johnny F. Roy, Supreme Beer Boy of the Lune and Absolute Commander Beer Boy of Krewe of Hurcules, and Kevin's future is cloudy at this time. Kevin needs help in noticing the angle of the can, the clank when it hits the surface, and the general speed of consumption. No one should have to ask for a beer. Good thing he is a good race car driver. The English on that is 'House of the Moon', so use your imagination. Good luck to everyone. Looks like the horrible weather has subsided.

After a night of lots of thunder, lightning and rain, it is a beautiful morning here in Commerce, GA. So glad we decided to park on the pavement!


I would like to wish my husband of 43 years a "Happy 63rd Birthday" today! A good birthday present would be for all you guys that he has to race this weekend, to let him win the round. Now I know all of you will be nice and do that for him! LOL Oh, I am baking chocolate brownies later today for his "cake". So come over and have 1 as long as they last!

Everything starts off this morning at 11 with Super Street, followed by Stock. We are supposed to get 3 runs today and another in the morning, then run all of the first race tomorrow. Then on Saturday 2 runs, then eliminations for Race 2 of the weekend. Should be a good weekend all around if all goes well.

We only had 37 stockers this afternoon. We got started a little late after having to clear 3 inches of rain off the track this morning. DA was 2692'. A little on the muggy side, but not real bad.

Well it has been a great evening! Jimmy Hidalgo cooked crawfish and it was wonderful as usual. And then we had birthday brownies for dessert! Met some very nice people from California that have come to Georgia to see their grandson graduate from high school this weekend. That would be Brandyn Phillips! Congratulations on your graduation!

Well time for bed now. We start at 9 in the morning with index cars, then super street, then stock.

Track prep was not the best. My car spun the tires in high gear at 6200 rpm, this caused the car to get real loose on the big end. The drive shaft spike was so big it looked like a gear change. I hope they do a better job tomorrow so the chances of some one getting hurt will be reduced!
