Weather for Belle Rose??
Any forecasters out there?

Re: Weather for Belle Rose??
My forecast is me staying home and possibly having a brew or two.
Have fun, I will get back at it next year! |
Re: Weather for Belle Rose??
Accuweather and weather channel say 40% both days. Arn't you glad its only a 2 day race? That way if we get any kind of rain, Super Stock is definitely losing a Qualifying shot. Geezz, I thought our last Div Director was Crap and now this one makes his first race Sat and Sun only. Thanks Dude, can't wait to come back later in the year after it rains out. Good thing they are getting a Bracket race in on Friday.... That is way more important than the LORDS event.

Re: Weather for Belle Rose??
Um $60 for a crew pass for a 2 day divisional race??? you can sure tell that Pat doesn't own the place anymore.

Re: Weather for Belle Rose??
Guys, Cooter told me the track website shows the normal 3 day race, with testing Thurs afternoon. Has anybody called the Div 4 office to ask?

Re: Weather for Belle Rose??
Well, 6th, 7th, 8th, & 9th is four days in Oklahoma. :-)
The 6th is Thursday. I just emailed our new div director to get the straight scoop. If only a Sat & Sun race with a 40% chance of rain, I will just pass on driving over twelve hours each way for that much of a chance of rain, and have to try to squeeze it all in between showers. Been there, done that before. Too far to have to come back for a rain date. Guess I'll oil my cylinders and wait for the next one. |

Re: Weather for Belle Rose??
Oh, So it is a 3 day race... If you want to pay the extra money to run on Friday... Nice new revenue generator. Now we only get 2 days for our LORDS entry and have to pay more for a Friday run. It’s also really cool that Crew passes are $60 for 2 days, but spectators are only $40. Way to stick it to the racers.
Anyone wanna take bets on Superstock not running until after T/S and T/D's run? We are always the bitch of Div. 4. Nonstop losing Qualifying shots so they can take up 3 hours running T/S and T/D. I wish I knew why these guys get to skip everyone in the order. Doesn't look like it happens everywhere, Just Div. 4 |
Re: Weather for Belle Rose??
Hagen,
I would enjoy the opportunity to find some time this week and sit down and get reacquainted with you. It sounds like you have a few ideas on how to make the events run smoother and some experience on what the negatives have been in the past. Thanks Trey D4 |
Re: Weather for Belle Rose??
Trey, if you’re on this board reading racers opinions, that’s already a good start. If you are willing to take suggestions from racers, then you are going to make a lot of new friends. I’ll start compiling a list of issues in the past. Thanks

Trey is definitely one of the good guys and a supporter of ours. Can't say much in the way of his home town.

Re: Weather for Belle Rose??
It was bad enough when the national events were changed from 4 days to 3 for the same money.
Now a 3 day divisional is changed to a 2 day race for the same money. I like being at the racers and I'll pass on going to this 2 day race. This will be the first No Problem race I've missed. Hopefully this money grab by the track will cost them money in the long run. Jerry Davis 4168 G/SA |
Re: Weather for Belle Rose??
People complain about drawn out 3 day Divisionals and the expense of additional time from work, hotels, meals, etc. and then complain if they make it a 2 day event. Good luck to Trey reading the threads and discerning the best direction to take the Division (and perhaps buck Glendora in the process). I personally think the 3 day races are better if you throw a combo or another race into the mix. Whatever keeps the track owners viable is what should determine the better venue.

Re: Weather for Belle Rose??
Actually, I would be in favor of a Fri/Sat "scheduled" 2 day event. With the possibility of completing it on Sunday if needed. I would like to see the National events ran this way where the Sportsmen are finished on Saturday and leave Sunday to the Pros and Alcohol.
This gives me many more options of an extra day for my weekend to get other stuff done. Or not if the weather takes a turn. I find it easier to miss a Friday from work rather than a Monday. |
Re: Weather for Belle Rose??
I don't remember hearing people complain about drawn out three day races. If you only want to race two days, do what a (very) few do: Simple show up Sat morning. That's what people that can't miss work Friday do. How is that a bad deal?
Already backed mine out of the trailer, parked it in it's bay, and fogged the cylinders with Marvel Mystery Oil. I'll let it sit there a couple of weeks until the Tulsa race. Guess I have time to build another weight bar. |
Re: Weather for Belle Rose??
There was a time when 3 days seemed a little drawn out. But with the additions to the schedule (T/D, T/S, index cars, bikes, et al) 2days leaves no room for error either mechanical or Mother Nature.

Re: Weather for Belle Rose??
The Friday, Sat. and Sunday schedule has worked well in the past. Those who can make it on Friday get an extra day to make timed runs, cook out and greet friends. Those that can't, come in Friday nite or early Sat. morning and still get to race. In the past if a track wanted to have a bracket race on Friday they scheduled it after the Div. race. Few seem to participate. I know that I never did due to possible breakage, late nites and the extra cost. I figered if I wanted to bracket race, I could do it a lot closer to home. I would suggest to the new director that before changing things that he discuss it will several of the racers who attend most of the events. In the past if it appeared that it would rain out the Sunday race we held the race Saturday night. Why change what has worked for years? It seems that the intended changes will not be well received. I know that I will stay home rather than chance a rain out. Fuel cost are too high to take that gamble, but if it were a three day race I would assume that within the three days we could complete the Div race.

Re: Weather for Belle Rose??
Trey since stock is the only class with a tire rule, have stock run first, also have stock run in the rotation after some long cars i.e. super comp, comp, or top dragster. The long cars help put rubber back on the starting line and this will help the starting line crew help ready the track for the next round of qualifying.

Finally, a division director that doesn't put up with any monkey business from the smart azz racers. I need to introduce you to Charlie Bob. :D

Re: Weather for Belle Rose??
Trey, can you answer me this; is $60 for a crew pass is set by the division, or by the track?

Re: Weather for Belle Rose??

If the forecast gets a lot better I may still come down. Love the track, and some of the greatest people I've ever met are down there. Just don't want to have to finish it at night with windows fogging up. |
Re: Weather for Belle Rose??
I am with you brett you can't race in south LA in june-july-august.there will be no fan's in the stands or in the pits.hell there won't be many racers for that matter who want to catch heat stroke with fire pants jacket helmet and sit in the sun weighting to run.not only that but the track will be slick with the heat.man the track owners need to listen to the racers.we wan't them to make money and you can't put all the racers and fans in the sports bar it is just not that big!

Re: Weather for Belle Rose??
Good point, Sammy! We do want the tracks to make money. It's the only way that they can stay in business. However, why go the entire month of May without a race and then schedule it in June? We have raced at Memphis during the summer by scheduling eliminations on Sat night, not necessarly a good decision but it did leave the opition of finishing the race on Sunday if rain came. I can understand that it's difficult to schedule 5 races and not race June, July or Aug. It places too many races too close together and it increases the chances of a race being rained out. I'm glad that I don't have to make out the race schedule. It's really a no win situation. The only solution that I can recommend would be to poll the racers or let everyone know that you are trying different schedules until the most successful is determined.
Trey, I am sure that you will be trying to balance the needs of the track owners with the needs of the racer. A new owner may have thought it would be a good idea to have a bracket race(extra income) and then have a Div race. Now it becomes clearer why it may not be a good idea to reduce the Div race by a day. Do as others have done and have timetrials during the day and hold the bracket race that night. I would suggest that you find a group of racers who will give you good advice and rely on them when making decisions that are out of the norm or when you must decide to move a Sunday race to Sat or Monday due to a chance of rain, etc. To the racers, let's give Trey a chance to suceed. If he suceeds, we all win! At least he's trying to get the racers opinion. I would say that my biggest complaint with NHRA at this time is that they don't listen or they make or don't make changes without racer input. |
