Fines this year?

Do you think NHRA is subsidising low car counts with fines?
$25,000 so far this year.

The amount of money NHRA has collected on fines would not even show up on a graph of operating expenses. It can't be about money.

I said to subsidise not cover all operating expences.
If their car counts are off by 50 cars at $210 a car That's $10,500.

Probably just trying to copy NASCAR. The vast majority of the sportsman racers can not afford an exorbitant fine like the ones David and the Dennis's received. Both are heavily involved in the sport and I hope each of them get the fines reduced to an acceptable level by the appeals process. I don't think this is a good path for NHRA to follow.

If you are referring to the party that was fined $5,000 for a bogus SFI tag on the seat belts, in my opinion this is a stern message by the NHRA to anyone else that is thinking about trying it or something similar. They aren't going to tolerate stuff like this and rightfully so. The rules are the rules and it is your life and health. I don't agree with the 2 year re-cert rule but, I will abide by the rules until they are changed. It is only you that is going to get hurt and possibly seriously for a couple of hundred bucks. A hundred dollars a year is not worth it to me.

It's human nature, no one wants to believe that real people could actually do some of the things they do. So when it's thrown in our face, the disbelief overpowers common sense. Fact is, we humans are capable of just about ANYTHING.

And sometimes......we get caught.

Yeah, I know, presumed innocent, I know. Sure. BUT, when you refuse to hand over the item in question, it's not hard to understand how doubts could arise.

NOT TO equate "A" to "B", but I watched a perfectly normal looking human being be executed several years ago. Google James Rexford Powell if you are skeptical. So I sadly know that more often then not, if it quacks like a duck, and has orange webbed feet, it's a duck.

Just sayin...

RIP

I've got one for you. I set a record at Atco NJ a few years back I had to pull a piston They took the piston back to the motel with them. And were going to send it to California because of their misprint.
I drove the car to the track. How was I supposed it get it home?
I lost my entry fee was not allowed to race. California finally agreed to the misprint. And I got the record. But never got an apoligy or my money back.
And BTW we are not talking about a few thousanths of an inch here. It was 3/8's of an inch. In deck height.
But the wonderful tech crew couldn't make a common sense decision

Seen on a show today a Indy car driver got a $30,000 fine for flipping off a competitor that wrecked him.

Re: Fines this year?

Just what has been levied for fines that is out of place? Do the crime, do the time.

Fighting in the Pro pits about someone's wife? Not very professional.

Stopping your car on track to yell at the track personnel? Not very bright.

Refusing to turn over a part being questioned? Might as well plead guilty.

If you don't like the NHRA's rules, pack your toys up and go run IHRA or ADRL.

Yes, it's really that simple.

How about when they want to take a part you know darn well is legal?
Not that simple is it?
And yes I sold the car and will never ever race a stocker or regular superstocker again.

Were you levied a fine this year because they took your legal part?

That is your original complaint, isn't it, the fines this year?

Glad to hear you've quit again. If more people did instead of endless whining on the Internet maybe the NHRA would listen.

Glad to hear you can't read. I was talking about in 2002 with a Stocker. No fine because the part was 100% legal. It still cost me the entry fee and expences. NHRA tech squad is not always right.
Someday you might try to build a car and have to put up with NHRA. Till then, keep those fingers well lubed.
If you open this link you will see that I'm still racing.

Unless you want to buy the car?

If this is a new policy they should at least lay it out.

Will they fine you for the cam lift checking .001 to the bad?
1/2 of a cc small or big?
Coming up light on the scale?
Fuel not checking?

Is this for blatent rule infraction only?
If this is a new NHRA policy, they should explain what the fine structure is.
For how low the payouts have become, hitting racers with fines that almost double what the payouts are is pretty ballsy. If you want us gone just eleminate us from the races like modified and get it over with. Then we can all build cement mixer bracket cars.

I see that a racer got the suspension time cut down but the fine remained. Makes sense to me.
Get you back on the track quicker but pay through the nose. If they ever fine me $5000. I won't even give them another dime.
Maybe they think they have found another revenue stream. Like the insurance surcharge.

When I was young and stupid. I almost had an altercation with a tech guy. And I never believed in rolling on the ground or skinning my kunckles. My partner got me out of the state real quick (even left one of the people we took to the race at the track). A personal call later that week from an NHRA official calmed me down. He explained to me, we were not getting tossed for cheating but for being stupid. And he promised that guy would not do our car again. To this day I wish he was still working. He had common sense.

Anyone know the story with this one?

Review Panel Decision - Grant Lewis
The Review Panel has reached a decision in the appeal filed by Grant Lewis based on the statement of action issued for participant conduct. The Review Panel finds the action taken should be and hereby is reversed in its entirety, in addition the appeal fee of $1,000 will be refunded.

Re: Fines this year?

OH NO!
NHRA couldn't post a list of fines because it will vary according to who the perp is just like granting a rerun depends on the participant!
They must have hired a NASCAR official to implement this policy?
