Well spank my
1 Attachment(s)
After a long, hard day at work yesterday I came home to a letter from the NHRA informing me that I once again broke the rules at the recent Summernationals .Trouble is no one talked to me there about this infraction or even looked at my car about it .Seems my 'friends' at the NHRA didn't have big enough brass ones to even say anything about this at the race .Is this the new face of NHRA ? Hide behind an unsigned letter - please ! !
Are they trying to chase away even their best supporters ? ? All this only days away from the next event .....Hmmmmm. |
Re: Well spank my
You can not be serious! they never said anything at the race about it?
|
Re: Well spank my
where's your friend "director" lang?
You need better friends in higher places! |
Re: Well spank my
Wow Jack, it would look like someone's playing the fiddle while Rome is burning?

Re: Well spank my
I find it more ridiculous that you are allowed to modify the trunk floor for wheelie bar clearance on a Stocker ,but cannot slot the lower valance 2" !
They allow GT cars to be slotted because of clearance issues, but no other cars can . If the need for a slot exisits on one type of car , why not the others with similar clearance issues ? |
Re: Well spank my
Tom, was it you that altered or customized, notched or slotted the rear bumper cover for wheelie bar clearaance of Jack's car?
|
Re: Well spank my
I have a friend who has his vallance slotted for his wheelie bar. He had a discussion with NHRA tech about it and it was never brought up again.
Sounds like its time to get Chevrolet involved with a new superceeded part number for a real valance for exhaust cleanance that wheelie bars fit through. This is when NHRA can be a bit out of touch. |
Re: Well spank my
They must like you Jack, atleast they didn't fine you 5k.
|
Re: Well spank my
Rules are for EVERYONE even those who call the "division director" friend.
|
Re: Well spank my
Well is it a rule infraction or not ??? If it is what is the problem ????

I've got to go back to school and re read the rule book ! I wonder if they will consider a crushed lower valance to also be illegally modified? |
Re: Well spank my
Thrown under the bus, damn.

Re: Well spank my
We received the same letter for one of the cars. We were told at Virginia that the letter was coming and to fix it immediately. Jack, you and I spoke about the phone call you received 6 weeks ago stated that you could no longer notch the bumper and you stated that you have another you can easily put on. Your post may seem unclear to some as is seems to state that this is the first you are being told of them bumper issue. I am not supporting the decision of NHRA giving us 2 days to fix it from when we are formally notified but the fact remains, we were told about this months ago.

Re: Well spank my
I like some give and take as well as the next guy, but 'ya know Mr 1320 your posts have a certain odor about them that drifts clear through my screen...like the kid in preschool that chants nana nana goo goo at the real players. The little burr under your saddle is a little old

X2 on the randall on 1320. Lang & Campbell are doing their jobs. I doubt its up to them how they inform racers of their D1 concerns...
|
Re: Well spank my
I think a pair of hinged bumper guards should be added...:D
|
Re: Well spank my
WOW!
I have seen another COPO that has a notched rear valance for wheelie bars and he was racing. Do they jump on everyone or is it up to the track to enforce it? |
Re: Well spank my
Thank you Mr Klein.
|
Re: Well spank my
Wonder why 1320 racer has such a hard on for Ole Jack and his notched rear valance.
|
Re: Well spank my
I don't, never met "Ole Jack", just don't enjoy half stories, half truths and undeserved *** kissing.

Jack, assume you saw the SRAC minutes thread on the notched valance issue and many other items. Mike Crutchfield and the other SRAC members do an awesome job IMHO considering they must feel like they are usually pushing a rope. |
Re: Well spank my
I have not been on him before and he is no target. He's just another racer posting on an internet forum. He's made some statements that I disagree with and I've stated my opinion about his statements. I'm sure "Ole Jack" doesn't lose a moments sleep about it as I don't.

Re: Well spank my
Look, I read all posts, some have good input and alternative views, I hope everyone continues to post, it makes for a variety of readings, and I don't mind a zinger or two, certainly Jack and his undying devotion to all things NHRA rankle me at times, but geez, get a shot in and let it rest, and it ain't just 1320 and Dan, there's been others, and probably me too at times.....
oh well |
Re: Well spank my
Lang & Campbell are both Good Guys, I'm sure the letter was a reminder to Jack,,,
Good thing Greg's not still around,,,,You would have gone down the road early,,,lol So Jack will fix it and He saved the entry fee and got to race... I see that as NHRA working with the Racer !!! |
Re: Well spank my
Maybe Jack's just trying to gain some street cred with the NHRA bashers. :D

And by the way - I'll call Director Lang my friend till way after both of us are gone .And I firmly believe rules are meant for everyone . Like I've said before - you're not one of us and will never 'get it' . |

"And...... Boom ! A bull's eye for Mr. Matyas in his lane !"

Re: Well spank my
Not that Ryck Campbell needs anyone to stand up for him but i have found him to be one of the fairest , most straight forward tech men in the sport PERIOD
|
Re: Well spank my
Going back to Jack's original post about the letter, and not telling him.
At The Englishtown National event 3 years ago. They didn't like my front fenders The fenders had louvers in them. They were the only fiberglass fenders made for a Neon, and actually 3 pounds each heavier than steel replacement fender. I showed them I was running a complete inner fenderwell, so there was no aerodynamic advantage (just dead air space). They told me I could run that race but had to change them before I raced again. They sent me a letter stating that and cc'd it to every DD and every division tech director. I was a little upset because I though minor customizing not to gain an advantage was allowed. I just bought the fenders and painted them with a rattle can total expense less than $100. |

Re: Well spank my
We all need to write letters or e-mail the NHRA to get this rule amended!
|
Re: Well spank my
That rule makes no sense. So, torn up bumpers are better?
Doesn't bother my car, but does plenty of others. |
Re: Well spank my
Personally I think someone left the door open at the Nut House Racing Asso.
