Hey Jack, wish we could be there this weekend. Hope you have a great time. I hope you stocked up on the Klondike Bars, I hear Mr. Demarzo will be raiding the freezer. Good luck to all and safe travels.

Some very large areas of standing water in the back field where I' parked, and I'm right off the main road . They may be holding rigs in the lanes, I haven't seen anyone parked for the last several hours. It's been raining too hard to confirm that .

Re: Live from Lebanon Valley - NHRA Lucas Oil Series

I was told that starting at noon they were holding everyone in the stagging lanes.

Re: Live from Lebanon Valley - NHRA Lucas Oil Series

Just took a walk, a few rigs in the lanes waiting to be parked ,just going in very slow . Grounds are totally saturated . They are parking around the perimeter of the field only right now. I took a walk to the river , and it is very high . The local weather looks like the worst is done, but it will take at least a day before they can park rigs or move race cars on a lot of the pits .

I saw on weather.com that there is a flood watch for the Lebanon Valley area through Sat 8 AM.

Well,I don`t usually leave my rig anywhere but I did this time and I guess I picked a low spot.Heard the back of my trailer is surrounded by a pond. Last time I leave my stuff anywhere!

And I`m crossing my fingers that river doesn`t over flow tonight!

Bob Don 06-13-2013 07:55 PM

Re: Live from Lebanon Valley - NHRA Lucas Oil Series

Like we talked about last week, you can blame me, Adam! My rig is there too. I am near the Pires family. I'll be there tomorrow morning. I hope I'm not stuck in the muck.

whats the current situation? still raining? are rigs still stacking in the staging lanes?

Re: Live from Lebanon Valley - NHRA Lucas Oil Series

We got to the track around 8:30 and were told that they were done for the night with parking because the grounds were drenched. We parked in the staging lanes and left the trailer in the lanes till the AM (I'm up traveling w/ a friend). Looks like rain till about early morning then letting up around 12 to a 30% back at 5pm.

Staging lanes were pretty wet with 2 pretty large puddles forming

Re: Live from Lebanon Valley - NHRA Lucas Oil Series

10:19 pm still raining very hard. TV station said the Albany area has gotten 11 1/2" of rain since May 1st. Rigs currently being staged in the lanes. Don't know how things are going to happen tomorrow with all the standing water everywhere.

Well, it hasn't rained here in three months, but we haven't had a racetrack in that long either.
I guess you have to take the bad with the good.
Good luck ,everybody!

Good luck everyone. I won't be able to be there until Saturday. I was in North Adams today(20 miles from the Valley), at a farm I sell to they said they had 13 inches of rain in the last three weeks!!

Thanks for the updates guys, we will be coming up Saturday morning .
I'll be monitoring this thread constantly for track and parking conditions.
Hope everyone can get there and race.
Thanks again guys!

Re: Live from Lebanon Valley - NHRA Lucas Oil Series

My rig and car are there , we have been told this morning they will park us where they have room , if we get stuck they will pull us out sunday . BS on this I call the track yesterday and Heather answering the phones assured me they had enough parking on gravel for everyone . This race should have been canceled , flooded pit area , flash flood warning untill sat and more rain this afternoon . In the past I would pay the fee , tech the cars and leave but not now .On to Epping and I would advise all others to do the same. No matter what happens we won't get all our runs. , cars will be full of mud and your rig will be stuct or muddy . Un-Happy customer

Re: Live from Lebanon Valley - NHRA Lucas Oil Series

I feel your pain....but a foot of rain over the last month or so...not a whole lot you
can do with that....

I applaud NHRA's efforts to try and squeeze this one in...given the "window" that
seems to be forecast...looks like a tough task to say the least....

Good luck to everyone concerned there...and have a little PATIENCE!

Ditto on those moving on to Epping...and hopefully better conditions...

Dave Casey 06-14-2013 10:33 AM

Re: Live from Lebanon Valley - NHRA Lucas Oil Series

Certainly you are unhappy Bo, but it shouldn't be cancelled. 1/2 of the pits are pavement and comp, alky, and top are parking there. The rest is CURRENTLY half usable and it is full or filling up fast. The rest is soaked but will dry with the weather forecast predicted. If you need to vent, I understand, but the only way to avoid these issues is to only attend races that have completely paved pits. The unpaved pits at Lebanon are grass, my trailer is there now and I prefer the grass areas. Most of us are headed to New England and it rains there and they don't have all pavement either. Whenever there is a weather event we always lose runs.

They will most likely start after 2 today, my guess is later than that. The sun was out there when I talked to someone at 930 this morning

Re: Live from Lebanon Valley - NHRA Lucas Oil Series

One silver lining to all this is at least the rain will keep the CLAY down....(next door).

LOL!!!

Re: Live from Lebanon Valley - NHRA Lucas Oil Series

Calling for a 3pm start with everyone getting 1 time run today. There are some areas of standing water but, as Dave said 11.5 inches of rain over a month even the best paved track might be under water. We are parked down by the creek and a few puddles but, not bad. They came in this morning and laid dirt and stones over the return roads where puddles had formed

Hope it's a misprint but DRC run schedule for today shows NO super stock time shot!

super stock is definately on the sched. 4th out i believe, around 100 stockers they announced, I hooked great, didn't run it thru , saw some high class automatic stockers spin and saw some hook.

77 degrees 29.14 baro really nice day ,track is doing everything they can to get everyone situated, pits are drying up fast, by tommorow you will be able to pit anywhere

It's a typo. Super Stock is running between Super Comp and Super Gas.

What a difference a day makes - this afternoon was brite and sunny with the place drying out fast .By tomorrow morning you won't know that it even rained at all .

Stock and S/S got their qualifing runs in this afternoon - the place was anything but fast but what would you expect with a 29.10 barometer and plenty of humidity .

If you haven't showed up yet there is still time as we'll continue tomorrow in the AM .Fields are a little thin except for Stock with a whopping 105 cars with a few more expected tonight and in the AM .

Later ........

Re: Live from Lebanon Valley - NHRA Lucas Oil Series

Bo glad to see you stayed. Number one in SS hope you are a little bit happier. Lebanon really tries harder than most tracks we go to to get rid of the water in the pits when it rains this much. All day long they were sucking up any water from the pits they could with there sucktion truck. Like Dave said there is not much any track could do when you get this much rain in such a short time. This place drys out real fast also. It is one of my favorite tracks. Barry

That is Fast Freddy Perkins' 57 Chevy, beautiful car, and should be fast as soon as he gets it squared away.

Almost forgot - the management here at Lebanon Valley provided all entrants with a usefull goodie bag .......most tracks don't seem to care .Lists of business we might need in the area - small notebook with a pen attached - mints ? don't know why we need them but they're good .and plenty of garbage bags ..........a nice touch for sure .

Good morning - And welcome to day 2 .Today is going to be a late start as a thick fog rolled in during the night and will certainly take a few hours this morning to burn off .Here are the numbers this AM - 53 degrees with 74% humidity , barometer 29.26 and climbing with 48 grains of water and .31 vapor pressure .Wet ?.....you bet it is .Good news is its not raining .Oh , and the final DA is just over 1,000 ft at this time .

Back later - gotta go have some 'Special K' ..........

Talk about painting yourself into a corner - this racer somehow got this far into the pits with that long rig but he can't make this left turn and is going to have a long ,long back-up .......all this outside my window .Can you tell its a slow news weekend ?

Jack...any indication that they might want to try running an extra round TODAY to
speed up the event....especially the bigger fields?

Looks like trouble for Sunday afternoon...according to the weather gurus....

BTW...Happy Fathers Day...to ALL you Dad's out there...and good luck with the
race!!!!!
