Calling quits!!

Thank you guys that have helped me over the last year. I really enjoyed my stocker but I have decided to bail out. Well at least as a car owner anyways. It's been a pleasure meeting everyone. I am sure I will miss stock eliminator. I haven't sold out just yet but boy that 4 door is a hot item.

Mike I am no longer a ihra member. We had a disagreement in their points system. I am now a member of the NBRA.

NBRA is free to join and live coverage at most big money events . Great track prep at these events are always great too.

Hate to hear that,I saw where you,Jim,and J.B. were in points in div?(canada) then you were'nt, I saw J.B in div 1 points.
Know a little of the story, but don't understand, why you can run any other div,but not that one,I heard unless you live in Canada?

I hoped you was just switching stockers, are you out of class all together or going still run nhra?

Re: Calling quits!!

Their excuse mike was that the Canadians had to travel to far. Lol cincy to immokalee isn't considered far. Ihra lost my business. Mike I prolly run a few here and there. If I find a car to drive. I will be around. I am hittin the combos this week at edgewater and tri state because they are close.

If your in western New York the ihra schedule is terrible. Hopefully next year is better or I'm going Nhra racing full time. Phil, I also had a points issue with ihra. I claimed div 3 with a number that started with a 1 (1301)... Didn't know about that rule

I don't think anyone can say it is fair to claim div 6 when you don't even live anywhere close to the area. That would be a big slap in the face to the folks living in that area.

Clearly states in the rule book that a competitor does not have to live in the division in which they claim. I understand there was some revision to this but it was done after the season started. You can't change something in the middle and expect people not to get mad. They should have waited to fix the problem after the season. Phil found a loop hole and I can understand why he is pissed.

I know I am talking about NHRA now,but when you get a chance, see who is leading the Super Stock points in Division 7...The Pacific Division.I believe that guy lives in New York.

Re: Calling quits!!

Wasn't there a rule at one time that you needed to run x-amount of 'in-Division' races for points to count? NHRA had it, still does I believe, and I thought IHRA was the same way. Years ago, when Todd Paton ran TA/FC in both HRA's, he went to Bowling Green to tech in for his third in-division LODRS race, so his points would count, then drove straight up to Norwalk for the IHRA National.

Yes you must have 4 in division for any points to count. IHRA has wildcard races that can be used as your in division claims though and that was what was what Phil was going to do I suppose but IHRA changed their rule after a few had already been claimed toward division 6.

Michael Beard 06-21-2013 05:38 PM

Re: Calling quits!!

Should IHRA have made the rule prior to the start of the season? Yes. Did they take into consideration that people living east of the Mississippi would claim Div. 6, go to the Immokalee and Memphis Wildcard races and fill in their schedules with local races to get another 4 "out of division" claims and thereby have an insurmountable advantage over "real" Div. 6 cars who only have four "in division" races and would have to make TWO 30-40 hour tows just to attend four out of division races? Evidently not.

It's too bad that Pittsburgh was not a split Div. 1/3 race this year. Many of the schedules are very limited this year. When your Division only consists of three double headers and you MUST attend four "In", you can't miss more than one weekend, or you get a zero for the season. I'm not chasing points in IHRA Stock this year because we could not physically get that car to four races in any single Division. That got me the year we made the Volare a Super Stock car. I went to a bunch of Divisionals, but they were scattered throughout multiple divisions. I think I went to more Divisionals than most people. Despite having enough points to the make the Top 3, instead I got a zero for the season because only three of my races were in Div. 9. This rule and schedule now has me attending less races, not more.

I'm sorry to see you quit, Phil. I saw you at Gainesville but didn't get a chance to talk to you. I liked the way you went about things, thought I might race you someday.
