LIVE from London, KY IHRA Pro-Am
Beaoootiful day here at London Dragway, located in the historic Daniel Boone National forest. Nice track, and plenty scenic! It had always sounded to me like it was in the middle of nowhere the way people talked, but in reality, the drive is almost all interstate, about an hour and a half south of Louisville. Once you get off the interstate, it's a few miles of four lane divided highway. Only the last four miles are "country".
Don't know the elevation here, but a negligible barometer tells me we've gitta be up there a ways! Accutime's Rusty Crawford actually flew in yesterday, landing on the track! 12 Noon advertised start, but they'd like to get everyone through tech and get the show started as quickly as possible due to a small chance of weather late afternoon or evening. https://fbcdn-photos-f-a.akamaihd.ne...57772856_n.jpg |
Re: LIVE from London, KY IHRA Pro-Am
Threat of weather, we're going to roll both Sat and Sun races into today. The two races will run concurrently, like we did at Pittsburgh.

Congrats to Randall Campbell for qualifying # 1 in Stock with his '86 Chevy pickup.
He was 1.5166 under ! Job well done Randall. Randall's engine was built by Mike Taylor Machine in Somerset, KY. Truck is sharp ! Congrats to Mike Taylor as well for setting the D/PS record in his '79 Malibu. Well done Mike considering your car was on the heavy side. http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s...pse4e5d2b3.jpg |

Re: LIVE from London, KY IHRA Pro-Am
Thanks for the pictures Michael. Question ... when you set a record in IHRA when do they tear down (after the race?) and how much do you typically have to take apart? We'd like to set a record in ours but it still has the OEM long block and I've never even had the intake off.

Re: LIVE from London, KY IHRA Pro-Am
Teardown is typically on Friday, and have to pull a head. For further details, I'd recommend contacting a tech official or race director.

I am amazed how good your car sounds with that stock spec cam and compression ratio ! You have that little 305 tuned up great. |

Job well done ! |
Re: LIVE from London, KY IHRA Pro-Am
Tar Heel,
As Michael said contact tech man,Jim Woods is on here alot. I always show up with mine with head just sitting on,I always have everything sitting in place that way you don't run off and leave something @ home, like a bolt or something else you need to put back. Thanks for pictures Michael. Does anyone know who was taking and selling pictures @ London,I was told he had a good one for me. Congrats to TC Morris and Brent Darroch on stock wins and JB Hinkle H/R win, thats about all I remember,I was tired and alot of racing happened fast, congrtats to other finalist in all classes Looked like TC was driving the wheels off the gold 2. Also was good to see Phillbilly racing IHRA. Mike Taylor 3601 |
