Re: "Live" from Norwalk 2013

We are here at the Walmart. There are 4 rigs here now and not much room for more unless the tractor trailer moves. We went thru some very heavy rain on the way here. Mike and Paula have been here since yesterday and said it hasn't done anything but a little sprinkle like it is doing now since they have been here. They drove over to the track and said it looks great. Haven't heard if they are letting us in at Linders Lot in the morning or not. More later.

Re: "Live" from Norwalk 2013

got a e-mail from Bill Bader Jr, still go for linders lot tomorrow morning at 8am, make sure you time it right, not 755, after 800, cause they are strick on times, if i was everyone, i would make it so your pulling in about 815 or after so your not sitting on rt 18 to long. I'm still wondering if we wont be lining up at the end of the asphalt pits.

I'm still annoyed that I have to leave Wednesday afternoon just to be able to have enough time to get both cars through tech and get tires and fuel for the big car.

Kevin and I are still at NRC. I think my camper is possessed by the devil. However all is not lost. Rudy Laris, famous S/C, S/G racer from South Louisiana is here also getting work done. We tried the ponds and ditches around here, but no gators, no crawfish, so we had steak and martinis. We are parked next to Kyle's Sheep (ask Patsy) and if the camper makes it through the night we will head to Norwalk. See yall there.

Well every row here at Walmart has a motorhome and trailer sitting in it! We have done our shopping and gone out and had a nice Mexican dinner and are ready for bedtime!

While we were at NRC we found a bevy of beauties for Kyle:

We thought these would make a good harem!

Here are Larry, Jeff, and Kevin trying to pick out the prettiest one for you Kyle!

I think this is the one they picked for you. And you know, I think "Animal Husbandry" is legal in Indiana!

No, Terry Knott's Dart Sport. He's acclimated to NHRA quickly, and will be in Linder's Lot on Tuesday. :p I'll get there when I can. Just my opinion, but I'd prefer to see their Tech schedule rotated back 3 hours (1pm-9pm instead of 10am-6pm) on parking/registration day, which would allow people to work, travel, and still get teched in.

It's raining in Sheepville. How is Norwalk?

Re: "Live" from Norwalk 2013

Norwalk is wonderful! Overcast this morning, but we finally have someone with some sense here. And it is the Baders! Instead of getting stuck in Linder's Lot, they directed everyone to the back gate on the Pro side and pulled us all in on the pavement so there is nobody on the road. Redman said they will start parking us in about 45 minutes! Finally, a great decision!

I agree Michael, I have to work on Wednesday and may not make it there by 6 to get parked. So Thursday morning you have to rush to get parked, go to tech and get your credentials before you go down the track at 9 ...

My God, common sense! Good for you guys. And starting to park now instead of tomorrow, another great move. Now everyone doesn't have to waste the whole day tomorrow sitting in line.

Re: "Live" from Norwalk 2013

We are parked, set-up and ready for adult beverages!! The sun is trying to peek out a little although there is 30% chance of thunderstorms today and tonight. It is so nice for the Baders to allow us to get in and not waste a whole day doing nothing. Bill, Jr. was even out there directing us in the back gate this morning at 8 am. I want to say for all of us that we sincerely appreciate your forethought and consideration for the racers. The grounds all look wonderful even with all the rain they have had here. They have been using a roller to pack down everything and it sure seems to have worked.

Well I am going to try and clean things up a little. Ya'll come on by to see us. We are parked on the main road when you come in the Sportsmen pits.

Re: "Live" from Norwalk 2013

Larry,

greatly appreciate it if you could ask Bill or one of the NHRA guys how long they expect to park today (i.e., directly to the pits), and if they will continue to do so tonight -- or end up staging folks in Linder's Lot (or the pavement?) at some point... just trying to pick a departure time.

Thanks,
Scott

Larry & Patsy, I can't thank you enough for all your posts, pics and commentary at the races you go too. It keeps me goin' along with Jack and Ken, and Toby. Here's a dessert suggestion some evening after you're finished with racin' for the day.
Take a jar of those Tennessee Moonshine brand "soaked" marashino cherries and pour the juice and the cherries over a bowl of some of that Norwalk $1.00 Lb. Vanilla Ice Cream. Add a touch (as much as you want)
of chocolate sauce to that and you got a dessert.
Hope I don't get banned.
Good luck to you all and safe racing.
God Bless,
Walt

banned? heck you'll probably get elected president with ideas like that! yummm

Re: "Live" from Norwalk 2013

Scott, we just talked with Redman and they are parking directly in the pits until 5 this afternoon. After that you will be stacked, but probably in Wilson Lot next to the track and not Linders across from the track. I am sure they will have people out there directing you tonight.

Walt that sounds great! Now all I need is some moonshine and cherries!

Paul, sorry but I am not making chili this trip. It's way too hot for chili! But it is not nearly as hot as it was here last year. We have the windows open on the motorhome and don't even have the air conditioning running! Sure beats that 105 degrees like last year!

Mackie Family Racing 07-02-2013 02:05 PM

Re: "Live" from Norwalk 2013

many thanks for the info Larry... I had pinged Bill Bader, and he also said 5ish for the end of "direct" parking... the million dollar question Bill didn't answer was where you go next... if they've had as much rain as Bill says they have (eight of the last nine days), I can't imagine any of the grass lots are particularly great... but we'll do what we have to!

Re: "Live" from Norwalk 2013

Larry & Patsy,
Any reputable Liquor Store should carry the brand. They come in a 1qt. Mason jar sealed. About $21.95 a jar in Central N.Y. Don't know if the price is better closer to the Mason/Dixon line or not. But they're worth every cent in my book.
Good luck this weekend.
Walt

Walt a few more recipes like that and you might be Paula Deans replacement. If you lived closer to the "City" the show could called "Cooking With An Attitude"

Re: "Live" from Norwalk 2013

this is neat we got parked in our regular parking spots without being lined up for a few days in a lot, I think if this practiced was done more you would see even more happy customers. The Over the Hill Ohio Gang is parked right behind me and the parents and the rest of the Jackson crew are beside me. Now raining a little, not bad, hearing Wilsons lot might be getting the rigs after 6pm, don't worry a roller has been in that field all day so I feel you will have no worries going into there for the night. Well I think Ralphie said its a night with our good buddy Jack, so I'm logging off the net for the night, more tomorrow.
