A/STICK- A/SA Challenge Indy is ON!
Hi Racers! It is hard to believe SIX years of fun and still going strong here! The A Stick and A/SA class racers are gearing up for Indy! There is still time for you to get ready if you want to jump in. If you are a fan and can help kick in to our prize booty to reward these hard core racers, I welcome all levels of support!
First of all, remember, this is a grass roots effort by racers and for racers! It is in support of class racers at Indy in couple of the most difficult classes to qualify at Indy in. It would not be possible without Ken Miele at Classracer and other supportive media like CompetitionPlus that have given us, the sportsman racers, the exposure we crave and that our sponsors deserve! Why is this important? Saavy business owners and decision makers recognize this as a real bargain and a fun way to reach their audience. The Indy A Stick Challenge and A/SA Challenge is ( I think) an example of what is possible when racers and manufacturers come together with a positive attitude to support racers that let it all hang out at Indy! I can't and don't do this alone. Over the years, I have had tremendous support! Ken Miele, Jeff Teuton, Scott Helms, Debbie Hawpe to name a few, that have always been behind the scenes along with so many others! I have spoken with Jeff and he is taking on a personal role in preparing the awards venue in his pit area. (Beer donations are being accepted) I have just begun talking to 2012 sponsors. It is early, but I am pleased to announce that Wiseco Pistons and Cometic Gaskets have already signed on for 2013! Much more to come! You might ask, "what can I do to help?" I try to make this as easy as possible. Please contact me via PM or e mail jimschaechter@earthlink.net. I accepted support in any amount and form! I am happy to administer it as you li,e. Typically, I am giving cash, prizes and certificates at the ceremony to the finalists! I do plan on Doing T Shirts again and I also have a traveling Trophy for A Stick that Caleb McFarland has to defend! David Barton is our reigning A/SA Champion! All I ask of the posts are to keep it constructive and positive. If anyone wants a sidebar to discuss, please stay on point hereand send me an e mail please. And again, I mentioned Scott Helms. Scott and Debbie did so much tobeat the bushes for racers at the Challenge. It was just another example of what a great guy and racer he was. No one can replace Scott, but I am certain that he would look down and be proud of hard core to the Stripe Heads up racing at the Challenge this year! As we said when we were talking about the Challenge...WFO! |
Re: A/STICK- A/SA Challenge Indy is ON!
Great news, Jim. If I can do anything to help, let me know. Indy is probably out of the question for us, at least as things stand. But if we can help the challenges, let me know.

Re: A/STICK- A/SA Challenge Indy is ON!
Last year I stole a nice clean trash can with a Jeg's nice clean liner for the large beer container. This year I told Jeg for three can liners and 10 cases of beer, he could be the title sponsor. Last year the Varsity Ford guys stepped up with large numbers of pizza and beer. Funny how big cans and large amounts of beer and ice seem to go together. More later.

Kyle Carrothers will provide a clutch dyno analysis for the A stick challenge finalists! This is the way to take your clutch tuning to the next level! Kyle designed and built this machine! You have the ability to measure not only base, but centrifugal pressure at the desired rpm and weight! Many pro teams on one of these machines. If you race a stick, you owe it to yourself to contact Kyle about the dyno service!

Re: A/STICK- A/SA Challenge Indy is ON!
As tomorrow is the official Full Panic Mode for Bowling Green and Indy, it's time to take care of the social agenda for the A/S Shoot Out Celebration. I have of course my now non-rookie assistants to take care of Social Agenda, Inventory Control, Security, Wine Merchant, and I'm not sure what else. My good friend Jim Kraus is on line as he is the Supremeo Social Promotion Controller. I have had a custom mini-Cajun Pirogue (special Cajun flat boat) which in real life these vessels have served as a serving for beverages. It's a mini, so it will hold about 5 cases, but it's real nice. I anticipate several people and the businesses they represent will come forward with food, drink, etc. Jeg's is the title sponsor and will provide the clean trash can liners to put the beverages and beverages to put in the clean Jeg's trash can liners , but I am looking for several associates. I thank all the people who have volunteered prizes and money for the Shoot Out winners and runner ups. Southland Dodge will participate, but it's too early to announce. It has ususally been on Friday night after the dredded barn for Stock, but when we get a idea of the Factory Car shootout, we can firm up. My good friend James is really in change, but I am trying to fill in for our Missing Man Scott Helms who worked on this at each event. More as it unfolds.

More SCHWAG for the A Stick Racers!
Rob Youngblood with Advanced Clutch is offering a gift certificate for the finalists of the A Stick Challenge! 250 for the winner and 100 runner up. Must be sporting his contingency sticker! And!!! To sweeten the deal, he is throwing in a new clutch alignment tool for the winner AND the runner up! Once I saw a picture, a price and the fact that you could interchange pilot sizes, I ordered one for myself! Very Nice! Thanks again from long time stick racer and supporter Rob Youngblood and Advanced Clutches! |
Re: A/STICK- A/SA Challenge Indy is ON!
John and Debbie Calvert of CalTrac fame are supporting the A Stick and A/SA Challenge!
Finalists will receive money and a cool Calvert Racing Shirt! Once again, the tremendous support is appreciated! We as racers need to remember those that support us when we need to make purchases and ned service. We have a voice if we chose to use it! |
Re: A/STICK- A/SA Challenge Indy is ON!
Ordered the Koozies for the A/S Shootout today, red with bright yellow or maybe loud green printing to go with the red. I haven't posted yet, but I'm still thinking about something unusual, but I don't know yet.
|
Re: A/STICK- A/SA Challenge Indy is ON!
Jeff those koozies have become collectors items! I am sure the on.y thing unusual will be if they see one without a beer i n it! LOL.
Just in for the Challenge racers! Biondo Racing is donating a pocket tree and a line lock! Speaking of collectors items.... Ken Miele is donating a couple Classracer shirts and decals as well! Thanks racers! It is getting good! Jim |
Re: A/STICK- A/SA Challenge Indy is ON!
I'm in for a $50 donation to the A/S winner!

Re: A/STICK- A/SA Challenge Indy is ON!
PAC Racing Springs are in to support the AStick and A/SA Challenge again this year!
Here is the deal.... Winners of A/Stick and A/SA will each get a gift certificate good for 250 dollars at jobber pricing for PAC Racing products purchased through PAC. If the winners use PAC products on the winning car and display their decal, they will receive a BONUS certificate for and additional 100 dollars on top of the 250! Runner ups in each class will receive a certificate in the amount of 150! PAC has a great variety of springs. Valve springs of course, but also suspension and other springs. I personally use PAC springs and work with them often. They make most of the springs that PRO Teams use, but they work with us sportsman racers too! Their RPM series is well suited for the abuse we give them in Stock, Superstock and Comp. As an example, I recently tested an enhanced design of their awesome 1409 beehive spring. It is a beehive like the 1409, but it has about 30 more lbs and the same spring rate. So for example, if a 1409 has 190 and 390 on pressure, the 1409x will have 220 and 420 at the same pressure. This spring also has more post production finishing and has a silver finish. The reason I bring it up is that it highlights the fact that PAC developed this spring in response to sportsman racer requests. They listen to the little guy and make us some great stuff! If you want to know more about this spring, you can contact me for more details, because it is not in the catalog yet, but I do have a link to their website. If you have not been there, check it out! http://www.racingsprings.com/ |
Re: A/STICK- A/SA Challenge Indy is ON!
Jim,
Count me in for $50 for the A/S winner. Let me know how to pay you. Good luck to all! Steve |
Re: A/STICK- A/SA Challenge Indy is ON!
PAC has very good products and are good people. In 2011 I did not have their sticker (I really don't like stickers) and they paid me for having the product. I now use their springs on all my fleet.

Re: A/STICK- A/SA Challenge Indy is ON!
I mentioned Nitroplate earlier. The owner, Kevin Cradduck, is a racer and a huge supporter of sportsman racers! Many of whom are his customers.
Kevin is sending a box of Nitroplate shirts and gift certificates for each A/Stick and A/SA Competitor! We thought it would be a nice way to show support for all that entered those two classes at Indy. The Certificate is good for 75.00 off of Header Coating! The shirts are cool! Thanks to Kevin and Nitroplate! |
Re: A/STICK- A/SA Challenge Indy is ON!
I just noticed that John Calvert is entered in A/SA. We all remember that thrilling A/S class final in 2010 between John and Jason McCormack. It is great that John, and Brent Calvert in CC/SA, are making the long trip from California.

Re: A/STICK- A/SA Challenge Indy is ON!
More prizes to note! In addition to the help with the party, Jeg Is putting up a one hundred dollar gift certificate for Jegs to the winner of A Stick and A/SA.
You know, we all know Jegs gives in to many racers and racers in terms of support. For that reason, I did not approach him at all for additional support. I mean, he gives at the office if you know what I mean. Sponsoring sportsnats, contingency, etc. Last year, I was describing the whole concept of the challenge classes at Indy and he offered to help immediately! I think that is pretty cool! Thanks Jeg! |
Re: A/STICK- A/SA Challenge Indy is ON!
This just in for the A Stick Racers. 200 bonus cash!
150 for the class winner, and 50 for the runner up! Anonymous Racer Donation! |
Re: A/STICK- A/SA Challenge Indy is ON!
Just made the purchase of our prizes for the winners of the A/SA and A/S Challenge. This year is something new. A brand new Kentucky Bourbon called Calumet Farm! Around the top of the bottle is a list of the KY Derby winners who came from Calumet Farms! Since we are not bourbon drinkers, I had to take the word of the guy at the liquor store, that it is very good bourbon!
As you know Caleb McFarland has won A/S for the past two years, and he was not 21 and could not even (legally) drink! Is Caleb old enough this year to imbibe? Or are we going to have a new winner this year?? Looking forward to seeing everyone next week! Patsy & Larry |
Re: A/STICK- A/SA Challenge Indy is ON!
I will pay $100 to the winner of A/S and A/SA, $50 to the runner up. I will double that if it's a Mopar, I will pay Kevin Helms $500 if he can finally win A/S, and if he beats McFarland, I will add $100. Cash.

I can attest to Calumet Farm bourbon. A very fine one it is. Another good one to add if there are extra funds would be Angel's Envy. Enjoy. Cheers from Shanghai |
Re: A/STICK- A/SA Challenge Indy is ON!
VanPelt, I believe Angel's Envy was last year's choice!
Oh, BTW, we have some Graves Co., KY sipping clear stuff to enjoy at the party this year compliments of a fan! Just poured up last night! Who is going to be brave enough to try it??? |
