Re: 2013 NHRA Rule Updates
Am i reading the last page right?, I need a trans shield?

Re: 2013 NHRA Rule Updates
That's only a quick reference chart. Only when it is added into the Stock Eliminator section is when it becomes mandatory.

Re: 2013 NHRA Rule Updates
Chuck,
The Quick Reference chart lists Section 20 (General Regulations) Paragraph 2:14 Transmissions All vehicles running quicker than 10.99 seconds (*6.99) or faster than 135 mph (except some Stock and Super Stock classes as noted under Class Requirements) and using an automatic transmission must be equipped with a transmission shield meeting SFI Spec 4.1 and labeled accordingly. (“Blanket”-type shield, appropriately labeled as meeting SFI Spec 4.1, permitted.) All non-blanket-type shields must incorporate two (or one, per manufacturer’s instructions) 3/4 x 1/8-inch straps that bolt to the shield on each side and pass under the transmission pan, or transmission pan must be labeled as meeting SFI Spec 4.1. Permitted in all classes where an automatic transmission is used. There is no specific mention of a Automatic "transmission shield" in the Stock Class rules, Section 10A. Lew |
Re: 2013 NHRA Rule Updates
my experiennce in the past has been General regs override any of the class regulations UNLESS it specifically says something one way or the other!!! Better check to be sure ---The way I see it if your vehicle goes faster than X MPH or X ET you better have one

Re: 2013 NHRA Rule Updates
Exhaust tethers does that rule mean that all cars that meet that requirement have to have this device by 2014 and will it be something that you can make for yourself are will it have to have some manufactures name on it.And have we had a big rash of collectors falling off for this rule to have been implemented or is this just another rule to add more cost to a race car.

Re: 2013 NHRA Rule Updates
I have NEVER EVER had my collectors looked at in tech at ANY race EVER. I have seen slip on collectors just that, slipped on and maybe tapped on snug at best. Is this issue maybe something that is at fault of the tech people not catching and instructing racer to better secure them. Mine have 2 welded on tabs per collector and bolted together with locking nuts. Does this not suffice? Or is this going to escalate into one of those SFI approved, expiry dated contraptions that look like a pair of women's Garder straps. I have always subscribed to KISS (keep it simple stupid). Maybe I'm venting prematurely as I have all the confidence that NHRA will have a reasonable resolve for this.

Re: 2013 NHRA Rule Updates
This subject was discussed in detail previously.
http://classracer.com/classforum/showthread.php?t=46424 I wonder what was the result of the meeting that Mark (A56), was having with NHRA on this subject? |
