Indy side bet for 2000 and older RWD cars only A-L Stock
Hey Indy Racers! I had another request that is fun, and performance based.
Here is the deal. The highest qualifying RWD 2000 model year and older Stocker in classes A through L and A/SA through L/SA will each get a prize. Must be a car, not a truck. The prize will be a 100 Visa gift card and a custom plaque with their car on it made by John Gray. I will present these at the A Stick A/SA Challenge awards party Friday night at Teuton's Race Pit/ Party. Now, kind of different in that the person kicking in wants no recognition. No problem with me! I think any positive recognition is cool and I am happy to help. Now, anyone venture any guesses as who they will be? Not sure on automatics, but I am going to pulling for my old buddy Lou Conkey in his L Stick Camaro for the stick honors! |
Re: Indy side bet for 2000 and older RWD cars only A-L Stock
I understand why they don't want to go all the way to Q or R for a reason, but why stop at L rear wheel drive cars?

Re: Indy side bet for 2000 and older RWD cars only A-L Stock
Hey now, this is just one request! There is no limit! Anyone can pony up for their favorite!
Paul, what are you racing at Indy? Stick Truck? Look forward to seeing you at Indy! |
Re: Indy side bet for 2000 and older RWD cars only A-L Stock
What about us lonely ol' M-O/SA racers :(

Re: Indy side bet for 2000 and older RWD cars only A-L Stock
Well Jim, Save your bet... Thanks for you vote of confidence, but I will not be at Indy or any National Events until they change the Combo Race. Will miss the fun at Indy. Will see U at the Columbus SportsNationals in September.

Re: Indy side bet for 2000 and older RWD cars only A-L Stock
Great gesture by the person who is paying for these awards. I personally think that the group of cars that this represents needs an award like this. They makeup over 1/2 of the field.
John Gray has made plaques for ASRA for years and his work is excellent. Jim. it is unfortunate that some must take this opportunity to say something negative, as you said, they can pony up and have another award Most important,,,, a big thank you to you Jim , for all you are and have done over the years The same thanks to the unnamed sponsor of this award, and also John for making the plaques. |
Re: Indy side bet for 2000 and older RWD cars only A-L Stock
I think Dave Casey said it best !! Thanks, to Jim & John for their work ...
Good Luck to everyone attending Indy ......enjoy, |

Re: Indy side bet for 2000 and older RWD cars only A-L Stock
Hey racers and fans!
Just to circle back on this. The winner for The stickshift deal was John Duzac and George Peterson! Not only did they qualify in outstanding fashion, they won D Stick class! These guys are the current D stick Record holder and proved that they have the baddest 302 Z-28 Stocker going right now. Anyone dare challenge them? http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...ps022b473c.jpg http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...ps118043bc.jpg Not to be out done, Jimmy Defrank bucked the trend and owned B/SA with his 396 Wikle powered 69 Camaro and took home honorsnthere as well. Straightforward and old school. Still a couple of racecars demonstrating perfection! Congrats to the teams! |
Re: Indy side bet for 2000 and older RWD cars only A-L Stock
Congrats to those guys on winning the award, they are hard working and persistent. They have built a bad *** car.
There is no OTHER 302 Camaro in the country that can run with them, or ever will be able to run with them. I'm not sure anybody in the country that runs C and D stock can run with them. I found that out the hard way, thought I was within a .10. LOL, boy was I wrong. |
Re: Indy side bet for 2000 and older RWD cars only A-L Stock
I feel you Todd! I was thinking though. maybe we should try and get all the D Stick cars motivated for a shootout at class at the Class Nats next year. It would be a great deal of fun, even if I was looking at Camaro tail lights!

Re: Indy side bet for 2000 and older RWD cars only A-L Stock
I will accept the "Duzac Challenge"! :D

Re: Indy side bet for 2000 and older RWD cars only A-L Stock
I was thinking that Danny Byrd outran him at Belle Rose.
|
Re: Indy side bet for 2000 and older RWD cars only A-L Stock
Didn`t see Byrd`s name on the sheet from Indy!
Congrats to Duzac and Peterson that`s one bad ride. |

Jeff, love to see you a Indy with that car when you get it together. Could make next year very interesting. |

That`s my point,Todd.

Re: Indy side bet for 2000 and older RWD cars only A-L Stock
That little red Z28 is bad fast. No doubt about it, but in C I think there might be a black later model Camaro he would have some trouble with.

Re: Indy side bet for 2000 and older RWD cars only A-L Stock
Well guys, I consider D Stick to be the Big Dog Small Block class for the most part. There are some serious hitters across the country that could duke it out. Heck, Stubbs could convert to an SS and go after it also.
Who dares and try to and reign supreme? There are a bunch of great cars eligible., Duzac and Peterson Byrd Hernandez Hoven Auxier Tosto MacNeish Strang Wenzel Bros Murray Jeff Lee Sam Murray Dean Cook Litwiller Brian Rogers Caleb Hansen Schaechter Bros Even some Big Block racers Coulter Jim Hughes Goerzen Staab I am sure there are others! You want to see some screaming D Cars help me out! Please get the word out! I am looking for all eligible D Stick Cars! Also, I need everyone's help to support them with donations and support! Even fuel money for some long pullers if we can get it. If you you would like to contribute or sponsor, please PM me or e mail me at jimschaechter@earthlink.net Some hitters have already committed including John Duzac and George Peterson. You want to find out if you are quicker than those guys, then show up with your best! Should be fun! What say you racers and fans? |
Re: Indy side bet for 2000 and older RWD cars only A-L Stock
Congrats to Duzac and Peterson! No doubt one bad ride, awesome car, hard work and hp are hard to beat. This thread just sounds like fun. Vegas anyone?

Re: Indy side bet for 2000 and older RWD cars only A-L Stock
Tony, I would love to go to Vegas. George is a big chicken and will not fly! There is no way he can get away from work that long. But I will not rule out getting in the back of a stacker and making the long trip. I would live to meet some of the ole boys, like Tobe and Jody Lang, Curtis Coulter, Clark Holroyd and many others. I'll just have to see what develops.

Re: Indy side bet for 2000 and older RWD cars only A-L Stock
James, count me in for next year!
Don`t forget about the Dutch Classic. |
Re: Indy side bet for 2000 and older RWD cars only A-L Stock
Vegas please! As much as Indy is a feather in a cap, I don't see me going to Indy in this decade. I know that's my problem but with 3 11 year olds, a 13 year old and trying to make up for the financial "lost decade", it would be a miracle. But I understand the highway is a two-way street.
My immediate goal? Set the D/S or C/S record this year. Haven't figured out who I want to spank first :D There's a big fire under the shops a** that will get even hotter once I get my SVT Focus back from them this week. And congrats to the Duzac Team! A well deserved victory and further adding to their long list of accomplishments. |
Re: Indy side bet for 2000 and older RWD cars only A-L Stock
Thank you Jeff Lee. Good luck on your record attempts.

Re: Indy side bet for 2000 and older RWD cars only A-L Stock
John, vegas for sure would be a haul but when you're there its worth it just like Indy. I'm sure Jim S. will put something great together wherever it ends up at. Anytime you can get more than 2 cars in a stick class race is something these days so if something gets put together and everyone says they'll show count me in. If you find a stacker with another extra space and make It west maybe my car can go back south with you to be at Belle Rose next spring. Congrats again!

Congrats to Duzac...Class act and a killer fast car. I don't know how fast my car is in D because I have never ran it there, but it runs pretty good in C.... Jeff Lee, if we are ever at the same track I will show you :)

Re: Indy side bet for 2000 and older RWD cars only A-L Stock
Just got home from the shop 75 miles one way away. I made it pretty clear and they SEEMED to accept the challenge I need the car DONE in 30 days. That would give me enough time for one (2?) test-n-tunes out at Tucson (gee, hope they are open in October, guess I better check). Then Off to Vegas. Sure sounds like a good plan....
Heck Kevin, show me. I just gotta get there first....;) |
