Did Bartons fine get dropped by NHRA or did he have to pay it?

The "formal apology" must have been enough. It was pretty formal. :)

Re: Please answer then Ill delete about Barton

You could have just asked me. I payed the fine.

Did I want to? No.

Was I out of line? A little.

Did I have a good reason? I thought so.

Do I regret it? Of course.

Was it unprofessional on my part? Absolutely. My emotions got the best of me.

Was NHRA unprofessional on their behalf? Yes, the track conditions should have been better, especially at a National Event.

Do I agree with the $2500 fine? Hell no. $500 would have been plenty.

Was it worth fighting? I didn't think so because I would have spent at least $2000 in wasting my time.

The part that bothers me the most is the way NHRA twisted the story. NHRA made it like I attacked the starter which is way off. He asked me what my problem was and I told him the track sucked with a few swear words. Anyway, it's all in the past. I'm looking forward to racing at Indy. I'll do my best to win my money back.

David - If nothing else your honesty is duly noted ......And I
know that you didn't have to post here .Me ?? I might have done the fight if I felt the way you do about this .That said maybe its best to put it behind you .And yes , you can get your money back at Indy ............

David,

I think the only unprofessional part may have been the swearing. I'm sure you heard about the Gary Parker/New England Dragway incident. Sometimes, someone has to step out of line to point out the absurdities that have developed in the system. Gary paid the price, as well, but the rest of us benefitted from it. Thank you for your actions.

Greg

Re: Please answer then Ill delete about Barton

Action and reaction. Both were wrong. David is human and voiced his opinion. Was anybody hurt ? No Could the starting line been better prepped ? As per a lot of people in the know at the the starting line / Yes Should David have been fined such a ridiculous figure. No Was anybody from the NHRA fined for not doing their job ? Of course not ! In my eyes David spoke up for what he felt was right. Never met the man but a class act in my book. My 2 cents

Re: Please answer then Ill delete about Barton

Honest reply but I wonder if they spent the $2500.00 on some VHT or went for dinner on David? Since no one knows where any fine money goes the finers can just toss numbers out there at will. $100,000 to Don Shumacher for selling nitro at a fair price. Who pocketed that money?

If you are going to hand out fines they should be fair and reasonable and since no one got hurt or other expenses incurred then the money should go to a charity like DRAW and not the black hole called NHRA management.

You're a class act David.Hope you get it back in spades. If I still had my car I'd have a baby rattle hanging from the mirror prominent enough to be seen by our "new" national event starter.Maybe a Pamper taped to the rear window, for good measure.
